The tech industry has decided to start 2024 with a bang, especially the smartphone manufacturers. This is because January itself has been confirmed to see some big launches including the Redmi Note 13 Series, Vivo X100 Series, Poco X6 Series, Samsung Galaxy S24 Series, and more. Now, one more tech giant has started teasing the launch of its number series. Realme shared a post via X (formerly Twitter) indicating the launch of the Realme 12 Series in January 2024.

The post features an image of a periscope lens with the hashtag #No PeriscopeNoFlagship. Although Realme has not confirmed the name of the device, reports claim that the brand is talking about Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G. Here is the post.

Realme 12 Series

The Realme 12 Series is expected to include 3 smartphones- Realme 12, Realme 12 Pro, and Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G. The smartphones will be an attractive blend of specs and affordability, considering Realme’s history with the number series. The highest Pro Plus variant is said to arrive with some major updates. Here is what we can expect from the Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G smartphone.

Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G: Expectations

The top-end Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G is expected to feature a periscope telephoto camera. Realme recently launched GT 5 Pro which was its first flagship with this telephoto camera. Now, the brand is supposedly bringing the same periscope lens to Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G. If this happens, it will be the first mid-budget device to have this camera sensor.

Along with the periscope lens, the smartphone might feature a 64MP OmniVision OV64B sensor that will let the user zoom in 3 times without losing picture quality.

The Realme 12 Pro Plus 5G is said to be powered by a special Snapdragon 7 Series chipset, namely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.

The smartphone could cost around Rs. 23,000 in India and start retailing in January itself. Realme has also confirmed that it will announce something big on 3^rd January at 7:30 AM IST globally. This can also be the event wherein the brand confirms the Realme 12 Series with a first look or details revelation.
