Qualcomm Tech Summit 2021 set to begin from Nov 30; Snapdragon 898 launch expected

Qualcomm has scheduled its annual Tech Summit 2021 to be held between November 30 and December 02. Following this announcement, as expected, reports have started pouring in that Snapdragon 898 will be announced during this event. If the company follows its set pattern, then the flagship chipset will be launched on Day 1 of the Summit.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Expected Specs

Snapdragon 898 is the successor to Snapdragon 888 and 888+ which are currently being featured in high-end smartphones.

The new Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC is expected to have a model number of SM8450 and will also feature Samsung’s 4nm processing technology. As per the leaks, Snapdragon 898 will be the fastest chipset by Qualcomm.

The image above shows a smartphone using Snapdragon 898 chipset as revealed by the Device Info HW App. This also displays the complete configuration of the processor. According to the leaked image, the chipset is using a Tri-cluster CPU setup with a maximum core speed of 3.0GHz. It also has 3 Cortex-A710 cores with 2.5GHz clock speed and 4 Cortex A510 cores with a clock speed of 1.79GHz.

Meanwhile, tipster Ice Universe has shared the benchmark scores for the new chip.

Then SD898 is expected to have a new prime ARM Cortex-X2 core in the lead. The CPU will be based on a 4nm processing technique which would give 20% better performance than the earlier SoCs. There will be a new GPU as well called Adreno 730 GPU.

Qualcomm is likely to equip the chipset with an X65 5G modem that will give a speed of up to 10Gbps.

Smartphones Expected to feature Snapdragon 898

Though Snapdragon 898 is yet to launch, the companies have already started teasing their smartphones that will feature this chipset. A report by Digital Chat Station suggests that Xiaomi could be the first manufacturer to put this chipset in their smartphone while a Vivo phone with 898 chipsets was also spotted on Geekbench, though the name of the device hasn’t been revealed.

Needless to say, companies like Motorola, Honor, Xiaomi, Vivo, Samsung, Oppo, Asus, Realme, and Oneplus will all be competing vehemently to bring out devices running the latest 898 chipsets once it is officially launched.
