While initial reports claimed that the chipmaking giant will launch the Snapdragon Gen 3 SoC with the same CPU layout as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in a 1+4+3 arrangement, the latest ones report that Qualcomm will bump up the number of performance cores and sacrifice an efficiency core with a new 1+5+2 configuration.

Based on recent reports, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 will have one Cortex X4 core with a clock speed of 3.2GHz. On the other hand, the five Cortex A720 cores will clock at 3.0GHz and the two Cortex A520 cores will have a 2.0GHz frequency. The Snapdragon 8 gen 3 will have support for UFS 4.1 internal storage, LPDDR5 RAM with 7500MT/s, Adreno 750 GPU, and a Qualcomm X75 5G modem.

The chipset will be manufactured on TSMC’s N4P process node and might be based on a 3nm manufacturing process for either TSMC or continue to use the N4P process.
