Qualcomm Snapdragon 632, SD 439, and SD 429 SoCs Announced: Specifications and Features

Qualcomm – the US chipset maker has launched three new chipsets – Snapdragon 632, Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429. All new Snapdragon chipsets are either a part of 400-series and Snapdragon 600-series SoCs which means we could see them in the upcoming budget and mid-range smartphones in the coming days.

According to Qualcomm, the chipsets are battery efficient, offer impressive graphics and has artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and dual VoLTE support.

Snapdragon 632 Features

The Snapdragon 632 is premium of the three. The octa-core chipset employs custom Kyro 250 cores combined with X9 LTE modem to delivers 40% higher performance than its predecessor Snapdragon 625/626 with Cortex A53 cores.

The eight Kyro 250 cores on Snapdragon 632 are divided into four “performance” cores, and four “efficiency” cores, which kick in for lower-power tasks and consume less battery.

Qualcomm manufactures Snapdragon 632 using 14nm FinFet process and also integrates Adreno 506 GPU with it. It supports displays with up to Full HD+ resolution, and camera specifications of up to a 24-megapixel single sensor, or 13-megapixel dual sensors.

Snapdragon 439 and Snapdragon 429 Features

The SD 439 and 429 SoCs, on the other hand, will rock in more pocket-friendly phones. Qualcomm says that the chipsets are 20-25 percent faster than their respective predecessors – SD 450 and SD 425.

The Snapdragon 439 is also an octa-core processor but employs Cortex A53 CPUs. It is based on 12nm manufacturing process and is backed by Adreno 505GPU and X6 LTE modem. In optics, the Snapdragon 439 supports up to a 21-megapixel single sensor or 8-megapixel dual sensors.

Moving on to Snapdragon 429 features, it is a quad-core chipset with 4X Cortex A53 cores.  The chipset also features an Adreno 504 GPU that delivers 50 percent better GPU performance over the current Snapdragon 425. The chipset supports up to a 16-megapixel single sensor or an 8-megapixel dual sensor.

Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 powered devices are expected to launch in the second half of 2018.
