Xiaomi Mi A2 has surfaced on the internet yet again. The long-awaited phone reportedly paid a visit to a Taiwanese certification site, NCC, for the necessary clearance before the official launch. While the listing didn’t have the name of the device, it has the same model number as the Mi A2’s Chinese variant Mi 6X.
According to a screenshot from dealntech.com, the NCC certified phone has model number M1804D2SG, and incidentally, the Mi 6X also has the same model number. It is speculated that it could be Mi A2, as last year the Mi 5X (released in China) was globally announced, including in India, as Mi A1.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Hardware and Software (Expected)
In India and most other countries where Mi A1 was launched, the Mi A2 will be its successor. The specs are going to be mostly the same as the Mi 6X – announced in China in April 2018. The only difference you will come across is on the software side. While the Mi 6X runs on custom MIUI ROM, Mi A2 is going to be a stock-Android phone managed by Google.
As for the specifications, the Mi A2 will sport a 5.99-inch full HD+ (2560X1440) display at 18:9 aspect ratio and visibly thin bezels on the sides. The phone will rock Snapdragon 660 SoC, paired with 6GB LPDDR 4X and 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage.

The Mi A2 price is expected to start from $293 (roughly at Rs 20,000), according to the Swiss online retailing website. Xiaomi is yet to call date on Mi A2 official launch and availability in India.
Xiaomi Mi Explorer Program
Meanwhile, Xiaomi has announced a Mi Explorer Program in India. As part of it, users Mi Fans get a chance to explore a new phone before its official announcement. Xiaomi has continued this tradition since the Redmi Note 3 days recruited 100 Mi Fans under the Mi generation program in 2016, followed by 50 Mi fans for Redmi Note 4 in 2017.
Although this time the company has gone a step ahead with its Explore program. The lucky explorer will not only get the chance to use an unannounced phone but also get a chance to travel to Spain to attend a global launch event. The explorers will be assigned tasks/challenges during the Explorer campaign. These explorers can also keep the device after the end of the campaign.
Users across the country are eligible to apply for the Explorer program by 1st July 23:59 IST, which also includes a small quiz after registration.
