Production Spec Mahindra Thar 5-Door: Images leaked without Camouflage Ahead of Launch

One of the most anticipated upcoming cars, the Mahindra Thar 5-Door spotted in its production form ahead of its launch on 15th Of August 2024, the leaked photos consist a detailed overview on what is going to be offered on the Thar 5-Door by Mahindra. This upcoming 5-Door off-roader is going to compete with the 5-Door versions of Maruti Suzuki Jimny and Force Gurkha. The new 5-Door Mahindra Thar is also going to be a bold and mean off-roading machine like its 3-Door version but the practicality of a 5-Door car is here unlike its 3-Door version.

Exterior Aesthetics and Features

The leaked images of the Mahindra Thar 5-Door showcase it in a vibrant red color, accentuating its bold and iconic design. It retains the signature Thar elements such as flared wheel arches that contribute a lot to its off-roading capabilities, a revamped grille that infuses a modern touch, and circular LED headlamps for superior illumination. The rear design is very familiar to it’s 3-door version which consists of vertical classic tail lamps and a tail mounted spare wheel but the differentiator is the added practicality of two extra doors.

Interior Comfort and Technology   

The interior of the 5-door is a really good combination of comfort and functionality. The spacious cabin features a generous second row for passengers, and the rear seats can be folded to expand the versatile boot space. Premium materials and dual-tone upholstery options elevate the cabin’s ambiance, while modern amenities such as dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, and an electric sunroof which amplifies overall comfort and convenience.

Coming to the technical part this off-roader is going to have a fully digital instrument cluster that displays essential vehicle information at a glance and a user friendly 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that boasts of different connectivity features that helps in seamless integration with mobiles and other devices.

Engine and Performance

Powering the new 5-Door Thar there is the same engine and transmission options that is offered in its 3-Door version. There are two engine options consisting of one 2.0-liter petrol engine option that churns out 150 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque and one 2.2-litre diesel engine option that churns out 129 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque.

Coming to the transmission part there are two transmission options that are being offered, one is butter shifting 6-speed manual and the other is a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission, both of the transmissions are designed according to the driving preferences and optimal performance in various kind of terrains. It is highly expected to be offered in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive options further contributing to Thar’s exceptional performance in different kind of challenging conditions.

Safety Features and Driving Dynamics

Safety remains as the most important aspect for Mahindra, and the 5-Door comes equipped with advanced features to ensure peace of mind on and off road. Anticipated safety technologies include multiple airbags, a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility, front parking sensors, and four-wheel disc brakes for superior braking capability. These features are expected to be standard or available on higher trims, demonstrating Mahindra’s dedication to delivering a safe and reliable driving experience.

Pricing and Market Positioning  

Priced between Rs.15-20 Lakhs (ex-showroom), the Mahindra Thar 5-Door aims to attract consumers seeking adventure, capability, and style. Its rugged yet refined design, advanced features and proven off-road abilities make it a strong competitor in the SUV market. This launch marks a strategic expansion of Mahindra’s SUV line-up, supporting the company’s goal to diversify its model range and strengthen its market presence.
