The tweet by a Twitter user

A Twitter user having the username Mahesh (@Mahesh08716488) tweeted about his brother’s smartphone POCO M3 catching fire and exploding. The user did not specify any reason and initially, POCO too responded saying that the safety of customers is very important and it will look into the matter with utmost seriousness. Going by the picture that was shared by the user, the smartphone appears to be completely burned at the bottom. Only the camera module is visible clearly. No other details have been shared revealing if someone got injured too.

POCO M3 Blast

Now in a detailed statement, POCO claims that it is investigating the incident. The company in an email statement to Smartprix said:

“At POCO India, customer safety is of utmost importance and we take such matters extremely seriously.

At this stage, our team contacted the concerned customer as soon as the issue was notified and is awaiting his visit to the nearest service center. We are committed to examine the issue in detail, and extend all our support to the customer and resolve this on priority.

All our devices go through various levels of stringent quality tests to ensure that the quality of the device is not compromised at any level.”

The interesting thing is that the user has deleted the tweet himself, which has led to POCO’s reply to his tweet getting deleted too.

Brands ignoring quality?

This sudden rise in such incidents is a cause of worry for consumers. This has made smartphones dangerous and trust in smartphone brands will dwindle if this continues. We hope that companies take product quality even more seriously as such incidents lead to losses and endanger the safety of the consumers. Users need to make sure that they use smartphones with basic safety measures to avoid such accidents.
