Tri-folds are the new fad in the smartphone industry. We are now hearing practically every other brand working on a tri-fold project. It started with Huawei showing it off multiple times, which Tecno and Xiaomi followed up, and now it’s time for OPPO.

Zhou Yibao, the head of OPPO’s Find series phones, recently posted pictures of what looks like the OPPO Tri Fold smartphone on Weibo, the Chinese social media site. He said the company has been working on multi-fold phones for the past few years. It seems like after making hundreds of prototypes, OPPO has made a breakthrough with mass producing these phones.

The picture Zhou shared shows a phone with two hinges and a main screen that almost has no borders, giving it a smooth look. The back is covered in faux leather, making it look fancy. The phone has an in-display selfie camera and reworked software to support the extra real estate available.

Zhou’s post has since been deleted, which is making people wonder what’s going on. It could have been a simple mistake, or maybe Oppo wants to keep their new phone a secret for a little while longer.

With Huawei bringing its Tri-Fold to markets next month, we will see how the markets react to it. These phones certainly won’t be cheap at launch given the type of feature set they offer.
