Oppo A79 leaked a few days ago and now, it’s official. Powered by Dimensity 6020, the Oppo A79 sports a triple rear camera, Android 13-based ColorOS 13.1 with 8GB RAM, and 128GB of built-in storage expandable up to 1TB.

Oppo A79 Pricing and Availability

Oppo A79 is available in India from October 28th onwards at INR 19,999/- via Amazon.in, Flipkart, Oppo’s India website, and major retail outlets. You can choose between Glowing Green and Mystery Black colors where I would say the former looks great.

Oppo A79 Specifications

Oppo launched the Oppo A79 with a centrally placed punch-hole cut-out housing an 8MP selfie camera. The display is 6.72” 90Hz FHD+ LCD with Panda Glass protection on top. It can light up at a peak of 680 nits of brightness and boasts 391ppi. The Chinese manufacturer is tagging the display with the tagline “You can see every detail, even in bright sunlight” that remains to be seen. You get Widevine L1 certification with the device that ensures 1080p video playback on streaming giants such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

Moving on, we have a Dimensity 6020 SoC under the hood. There’s 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM paired alongside 128GB UFS 2.2 storage which goes in-line with the pricing. The phone has expandable memory via microSD card of up to 1TB which isn’t surprising given the fact that somehow, only the flagship devices are locked with no expandable memory unless you get a larger internal storage variant for more space.

On the optics front, we have an 8MP selfie camera as aforementioned. There’s a dual rear camera housed in two giant circles that comprises a 50MP primary Samsung ISOCELL JN1 snapper along with a 2MP depth sensor.

Oppo A79 is fueled by a 5,000mAh battery under the hood flanked with 33W wired charging support which is the same as Xiaomi Redmi Note 12. Apart from that, Oppo A79 gas UO54 rating, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, 5G support, a dual stereo speaker setup with Ultra Volume Mode that can reach 300% of volume on the speakers and 200% on earpiece calls.

The Oppo A78 that arrived earlier this year had a Dimensity 700 SoC and the display stands at 6.56” (269ppi) but everything else is the same.
