In 2021, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus released its first smartwatch, the OnePlus Watch. It came with a large 1.39-inch AMOLED screen, carried an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, and offered health monitoring features like blood oxygen monitoring, heart rate tracking, etc. Now, the company plans to release a successor to the device, allegedly called the OnePlus Watch 2.

OnePlus Watch 2 BIS Listing Reveals Model Number

The smartwatch recently visited the Bureau of Indian Standards’ website, wherein it was listed with the model number OPWWE231. Usually, companies get their devices listed on BIS when they finish product development and are near the expected launch. Hence, the BIS listing of the device suggests that the smartwatch could hit the Indian market soon.

However, an earlier report claimed that the OnePlue Watch 2 would come out alongside the OnePlus 12. Nonetheless, the smartwatch is said to provide several upgrades over the first generation, which could include better battery life, more accurate measurement of health-related metrics like heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and an upgraded user interface.

Whether the OnePlus Watch 2 will run on Wear OS isn’t known at the moment, but rumors favor a custom RTOS, like the original mode. It is important to mention that the company hasn’t confirmed any of these details, and hence, readers should take it with a pinch of salt.
