As the excitement steadily grows in anticipation of the impending launch of the OnePlus Open, Smartprix has been at the forefront, dedicated to delivering the latest updates concerning OnePlus’s debut foldable smartphone. In the previous month, we presented an exclusive initial first look at the OnePlus Fold, offering enthusiasts an enticing preview of its possibilities. However, as with any early-stage prototype, room for design adjustments remained. Today, we can confirm that OnePlus has made a handful of adjustments to the design of the folding phone. We’ve acquired fresh renders of the OnePlus Open, meticulously crafted based on pre-production unit visuals, providing a new closer look at ONEPLUS OPEN.

CHECK: OnePlus Open review

Our trusted source, OnLeaks, got a special chance to see real pictures of the OnePlus Open. Based on those images, these new renders have been created demonstrating changes in design.

Changes in Aspect Ratio

OnePlus has made significant adjustments to the aspect ratio of the phone, affecting both the inner and outer displays. The new design shows a wider aspect ratio compared to the earlier renders based on an early testing prototype. This shift is influenced by the OPPO Find N2, opting for a broader screen for better content viewing and one-handed use. The OnePlus Open’s overall size and display seem larger than OPPO’s previous clamshell foldable phone. The display also features rounded corners and smaller bezels.

Frame Redesign

The outer frame’s corners now have a rounded profile on the hinge side, adding style and ergonomic functionality. Unlike the tapered outer back of the OPPO Find N2, the OnePlus Open has a flat outer frame. Speakers have been adjusted for better audio by shifting the top and bottom speaker positions.

Camera Module Update and New Sensor

The camera module has undergone significant changes since the early renders. The new design reveals a larger rear camera module with a slightly updated design. The camera module protrudes more than the early prototype, featuring three large sensors, including a periscope telephoto camera. A new sensor, possibly a Time-of-Flight (ToF) or LiDAR sensor, is located beneath the ‘H’ branding. The rear camera flash is positioned outside the camera island, and its size has increased.

Shifting Selfie Camera

The inner display’s selfie camera has moved from the left corner to the right. The iconic “Hasselblad” logo on the rear camera module has been replaced by a more elegant “H” logo, aligning with the phone’s overall aesthetics.

Other Design Highlights

The OnePlus Open will have the fan-favorite alert slider and a power button with a fingerprint sensor. The back features an impressive faux leather texture, offering a premium look and comfortable feel.

OnePlus Open Specifications and Features

Rumors and leaks suggest that the OnePlus Open might feature a 7.8-inch foldable inner display and a 6.3-inch outer screen, both boasting a remarkable 120Hz refresh rate. As for performance, the upcoming OnePlus foldable is rumored to be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with up to 16GB of RAM and a minimum of 256GB of storage.

The camera setup is expected to include two 48MP rear cameras, functioning as the primary shooter and ultra-wide sensor, accompanied by a 64MP telephoto camera, completing the triple camera setup. To ensure all-day usage, the device could come with a sturdy 4,800mAh battery, supported by 67W fast wired charging.

OnePlus Open Launch In India

OnePlus Open was expected to make its global debut on August 29 at a launch event in New York. In an unexpected turn of events, the Oneplus Open launch has encountered a slight delay.

Initially, OnePlus intended to source screens from BOE, but recently OnePlus decided to source panels from Samsung. This change in display partner has caused a slight delay in the launch date which is yet to be confirmed by OnePlus.
