OnePlus Nord 2 official launch is allegedly around the corner as leaks and rumors have started catching steam. The latest one suggests the Nord 2 will include a MediaTek chipset – a first in OnePlus devices.

The sources at AndriodCentral have gained information that the successor of OnePlus Nord will come in the second quarter of 2021 as OnePlus Nord 2. Interestingly, the source claims Nord 2 will be powered by the latest MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 was first unveiled in January 2021 with flagship offerings. The Dimensity 1200 is manufactured on a 6nm process with a core design including a Cortex A78 core with the maximum speed of 3.0GHz assisted with another three Cortex A78 and four Cortex A55 clocked at lower speeds.

The OnePlus’ opting for Dimensity 1200 chipset could be a big win for MediaTek. As of now, Redmi and Realme have already confirmed that they will release phones powered by Dimensity 1200 SoC in their upcoming mobile phones. Realme GT Neo is confirmed to include the said chipset.

Last year, OnePlus Nord was also rumored to adopt the Dimensity 1000+, but ultimately the phone launched with Snapdragon 765G. Since we still have a few months before the next Nord arrives, we’d suggest you take this information with a grain of salt.

As far as OnePlus is concerned, the Chinese manufacturer is gearing up for a product launch on March 8 and has been quite active on various platforms including Amazon. We expect the time has arrived to witness the launch of the OnePlus 9 series
