TL; DR
  • Nothing has confirmed that they are killing the Glyph Interface.
  • Rumors suggest that this is to pave the way for a dot matrix display on the Phone (3).
  • Expected launch in July 2025, with a price around €800.

Nothing’s latest teaser for the Nothing Phone (3), slated for a July 2025 release, confirms the end of the Glyph interface, a signature feature of its previous models. The brief video shows three Glyph lights dimming, with the central light conspicuously missing, pointing to a major design overhaul. This follows earlier hints of a dot matrix display on the phone’s back, suggesting a shift in how Nothing phones will look like.

The teaser clearly indicates the Glyph LEDs are being phased out (or killed). Now, speculation is that this is being done in favour of a dot matrix display. Unlike the simple light strips of Phone (1) and (2), this new panel might show pixelated patterns or animations, possibly inspired by the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Pro. It’s a gamble, as the Glyph was a unique thing for Nothing phones.

Nothing’s decision to ditch the Glyph could make or break its market stance. At an expected €800 in the EU, the Phone (3) is priced to compete with established flagships, but dropping a defining feature is a risky move.

Speculated specs include a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor, premium glass-and-metal build, and a possible Essential Key for quick actions. The dot matrix display might support interactive visuals, with a high-refresh-rate AMOLED front screen, upgraded triple cameras, and 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging, but Nothing’s silence on specifics leaves much to guesswork.
