Disney+ Hotstar is following Netflix’s approach with its subscription plans. On Tuesday, at a virtual event where the OTT platform announced 18 new Hotstar Specials series and Disney+ Hotstar Multiplex motion pictures, the Disney-owned OTT platform declared that it was scraping its two-level content strategy. From now on, all viewing content on Disney+ Hotstar that was only available to Disney+ Hotstar Premium subscribers will now be accessible to everybody. That implies Disney+ Hotstar VIP is no more.

Disney+Hotstar now streams content not only from Disney and Hotstar but also from HBO, Fox, Showtime, Pixar, and more. So you get loads of content under a single umbrella.

New Disney+ Hotstar Plans: Mobile, Super, and Premium

Beginning September 1, Disney+ Hotstar will allow its viewer base to choose from the three new plans:

“Mobile” at Rs. 499 every year or Rs. 49 per month. It can be bought for Rs 149 for 3 months or Rs 199 for 6 months as well.  It Supports 1 screen and offers Live sports, Hotstar Specials, Disney titles, American TV shows and movies in 720P quality

“Super” at Rs. 899 every year, which supports 2 screens, and offers Live sports, Hotstar Specials, Disney titles, American TV shows, and movies in 1080P quality.

and lastly “Premium” at Rs. 1,499 every year or Rs 299 per month. It Supports 4 screens and offers Live sports, Hotstar Specials, Disney titles, American TV shows, and movies in 4K quality.

Note- The Mobile plans for 3 months and 6 months are priced under a promotional offer for now. So once the offer ends, plans will cost more.

If you are already on Disney+ Hotstar Premium, not a lot changes for you, except for how you would now be able to stream on four gadgets simultaneously. 4K is still available to Premium subscribers. Meanwhile, Disney+ Hotstar Super allows you to stream on two devices simultaneously in HD video quality.

The supported devices for Disney+ Hotstar Super and Disney+ Hotstar Premium are mobile phones, the official website, and living room devices.

That leaves Disney+ Hotstar Mobile which is pretty much the same as Netflix’s Mobile subscription plans. It will limit you to a single mobile device, and HD video quality.
