Netflix adds spatial audio in collaboration with Sennheiser to bring a cinematic sound experience to its subscribers

Spatial audio has been added to select titles on Netflix. This will allow users to get a cinematic sound experience on any of their devices.

Netflix India is one of the most popular OTT platforms in the country. The platform has a wide range of movies, web series, mini-series, documentaries, and more with plans starting for as low as Rs. 149/month.

Netflix always keeps serving to make the home viewing experience of its consumers better and in the same league, the OTT giant has now partnered with a German audio brand Sennheiser to bring spatial audio technology to its catalog for over 21 million subscribers around the world.

“Often the subtlety of sound goes noticed, but it can have a profound impact on the atmosphere of a scene and fundamentally change the audience’s response,” Netflix explained while announcing spatial audio support.

What will spatial audio do?

Spatial audio is a 3D audio technology that creates an even more immersive soundscape by using dynamic head-tracking for a cinema hall-like experience. No matter which device you are using, you can watch your favorite content with spatial audio, provided the fact that the title supports spatial audio. Currently, spatial audio has been rolled out for select titles but will soon be available for all.

How to find out spatial audio-supported titles on Netflix?

To find out which titles support spatial audio, just click on the search bar on the Netflix app and type ‘spatial audio’ in it. This will display all those titles which have support for spatial audio.

Some titles that currently support spatial audio on Netflix are Stranger Things, The Adam Project, Red Notice, The Witcher, Locke and Key, Resident Evil, Interceptor, The Order, Archive, Warrior Nun, Kate, True Story, Lulli, and some more.

What are the other features that Netflix supports for a better viewing experience?

Netflix has support for 4K content, HDR, Dolby Atmos, and its proprietary Netflix Calibrated Mode.

In related news, Netflix will soon roll out a cheaper but ad-supported version for those who feel Netflix is too expensive for them without ads and they won’t mind ads if they get it for a cheaper price.
