Moto G8 Plus launched in India; Moto G8 Play and Moto E6 Play go official

It’s been not even a year and Motorola has unveiled the 8th gen G series. In an event held in Brazil, the Moto G8 Plus and Moto G8 Play got official alongside Moto E6 Play. The Moto G8 Plus (review), which is the creme of the lot, has been simultaneously launched in India. The main attraction of this phone is its cameras. You get a 48-megapixel sensor led triplet, which also includes an ultra-wide Action camera. On the front, a 25-megapixel shooter handles the selfies. The rest of the specs of the Indian variant see a slight variation from its global counterpart.

Like many other affordable phones, the Moto G8 Plus also ships with the Snapdragon 665 chipset. This is an octa-core silicon clocking at 2.0GHz. It comes out in multiple variants starting from 4GB LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB storage. A 4000mAh battery brick keeps the phone ticking. This is supported by a 15W TurboPower fast charger. It runs on Android 9 software out of the box. However, Motorola has promised an upgrade to Android 10 in the near future.

Coming to the surface, you get a waterdrop notched LCD display that stretches to 6.3 inches. This is a full HD+ panel sporting a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. Within that small slit on the top lies a 25MP sensor for selfies. Swivel to the back and you get a trio comprising of 48-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM1 sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra-wide Action camera with 117-degree FoV, and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. Moto offers a dedicated night mode as well as up to 4K video capture at 30fps, and 1080p slo-mo video recording up to 120fps.

Moto G8 Plus bears the laundry list of sensors and the I/O ports such as USB-C socket and 3.5mm headphone jack. There is an expandable storage option upto 512GB via a hybrid slot.

Moto G8 Plus Pricing and Availability

Moto G8 Plus will be available in Cosmic Blue and Crystal Pink colors from the end of October via Flipkart. It retails at Rs. 13,999. Introductory offers include Jio Cashback up to Rs. 2,200, Zoom Car vouchers worth Rs. 2,000 and Cleartrip voucher worth Rs. 3,000.

As already mentioned, Moto G8 Play and Moto E6 Play won’t be making their way to the Indian subcontinent. Nonetheless, here are the specs of all three phones.
