So apparently Moto E series has survived for now. Lenovo has updated its Moto E series on the lines of Moto G, as was evident when it showcased the new Moto E3 in the United Kingdom. The third generation Moto E ditches 4.5-inch display of last year to embrace a bigger 5-inch 720p IPS panel. The Moto E3 claims to have a splash-proof construction and “built-in smudge-resistant screen protector”.  It is not clear how different this is from the Gorilla Glass protection. Apart from this, it also integrates a new quad-core (unspecified) central processing unit along with 1GB of RAM.

Lenovo has also upgraded the primary camera to an 8-megapxiel resolution with LED flash and a 5-megapixel front facing selfie camera. It comes with 8 Gigs of on-board storage along with a microSD card slot for expansion.  The phone is reportedly backed by a 2800 mAh battery which is improved over the previous generation Moto E. It runs on Andriod Marshmallow.

The dual SIM smartphone supports most common connectivity options including 4G LTE, WIFI, Bluetooth and GPS. In the UK, Lenovo has priced Moto E3 at GBP 99 which is around 131 dollars. The phone goes on sale this September.
