Smartphones make a very integral part of human life these days. And the heart of the smartphone is confined in its processing unit which is formed by the chipset incorporated in the smartphone. The two leading chipset providers in the global market are MediaTek and Qualcomm which provides Snapdragon processors. Though most of the smartphones in the present day are powered by either of these two processors, Samsung has been a chipset creator as well. Samsung is the manufacturer of Exynos processor family. Recently there have been reports that Qualcomm is planning to make octa core processor a thing of yesterday by launching the all new Snapdragon 818 SoC which will contain ten cores to make a deca core chipset.

And out of nowhere, MediaTek just stole the opportunity as it launched a deca core processor of its own. MediaTek has launched Helio X20 chipset, the world’s first deca core processor which contains ten cores. The deca (10) core Helio X20 SoC has four power efficient Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz, 4 Cortex A-53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and another couple of Cortex A-72 performance cores clocked in at 2.5 GHz. The combination of this triad is expected to instill some powerful performance to the device which will consume maximum power for the best possible output and will be power efficient at the same time. According to MediaTek, the power efficiency of this deca core miracle is better than any other processor that has ever existed.

Helio X20 SoC comes with 2 x LPDDR3 memory spaces and is compatible with Mali T800 series GPU. Now that Qualcomm has lost the opportunity to be the first one to launch the big thing, it will have to be more careful to compensate the time lapse and to beat off the Helio X20.
