MediaTek is gearing up for its next flagship chipset launch in Q4 2024. Dubbed Dimensity 9400 – successor to last year’s Dimensity 9300, a recent leak suggests a similar all-big cores architecture. The chipset to reportedly fabbed on TSMC’s 3nm N3B process consuming 34% less power than the predecessor.

The leaked intel comes from tipster Digital Chat Station according to whom, Dimensity 9400 SoC will carry model number MT6991. Just as last year, MediaTek will use all-big core architecture on the D9400 including 1x Cortex-X5 performance core clocked at a whopping 3.4GHz surpassing the max 3.25GHz frequency that Cortex-X4 achieved in the predecessor.

Rumors have it that the max frequency is expected to increase as and when the chip launches later this year. Cortex-X5 will share the space with 3x Cortex-X4 and 4x Cortex-A720 cores architecture.

Early AnTuTu listing reveals performance improvement compared to early benchmarks of yet-to-release Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC. We have seen Dimensity 9300 beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC last year and seems like MediaTek could repeat the story this year as well unless Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 switches to a 4.0GHz prime core.

Vivo X200 to be the first to pack in Dimensity 9400 SoC

Last year, Oppo Find X7 became the first device to host Dimensity 9300 SoC blowing other fishes out of the water. However, recent reports hint Vivo will take the baton with Vivo X200 being the first device to be powered by Dimensity 9400 SoC. Oppo’s Find X8 is likely the second (at best) to feature Dimensity 9400 SoC if the reports turn out to be true.
