In today’s times, while e-commerce platforms like Amazon and Flipkart have become a popular hub for shopping all that one needs, these e-commerce websites have also been in the limelight for 100s of scams that consumers face due to them. Recently, an X (formerly Twitter) user with the username @thetrueindian shared a post via his account recounting his horrible experience with Flipkart.

What the Matter is?

According to Aryan (the name on the handle), he ordered a Sony TV worth 1 lakh from Flipkart (during Big Billion Days) on 7th October and he received the order on 10th October. Things seemed fine till then, but when the installation people came on 11th October and opened the box, everyone was shocked to see a Thomson TV instead of a Sony, and that too with no accessories like a stand, remote, etc.

The user further elaborated that he raised the issue with Flipkart and they asked him to upload images which he did. After that, Flipkart customer care kept asking him to upload images again and again and he has been doing that without fail, but there has been no progress on the return request even after 2 weeks. The first date given for complaint resolution was 24th October and then the date got extended to 1 November. Meanwhile, the complaint status shows up as ‘Resolved’ every now and then.

The user shared his plight saying he wanted to enjoy World Cup 2023 on TV and was waiting for Big Billion days to buy his TV, but now his experience has turned into a nightmare, all thanks to Flipkart. He has asked various tipsters and influencers to help him and has also shared that the delivery partner was Delhivery and the seller was Omnitechretail.

What does the Public say?

The post went viral in no time as various users shared their experiences and also suggested what the user could do to get his complaint resolved. Most of the users asked if it was not an open-box delivery and also suggested that the user should have opted for an open-box delivery to avoid scams as Flipkart is famous for scamming consumers. To this @thetrueindian replied that open-box delivery was not available for this item in his area and that open-box delivery is mostly available for e-kart items.

Many users asked @thetrueindian to complain to the consumer forum, cyber-crime cell, or umang app so that Flipkart resolves the matter. Many have shared that their complaints also got resolved only when they registered a police complaint with a consumer forum. While some call Delhivery a fraud company, others claim that Flipkart itself is a scam and it cheats customers all the time. One user has shared the email ID of Flipkart’s grievance officer and one has asked the user to tag Flipkart’s CEO to get a resolution.

Where there is a discussion, there are various viewpoints. One X User has asked the person to block the payment if he has used his credit card and for this, he will have to write to the bank to block the payment. Most of the users have shared their horrible experiences with Flipkart and advised @thetrueindian to never use Flipkart for buying electronic items. Some users have just wished all the best while some have no hopes as they believe Flipkart won’t resolve the issue ever.

The replies section is filled with such tweets from various users. Verified handles tagged by @thetrueindian have also tagged Flipkart and asked the e-commerce portal to take action.

The post was shared today at 8:38 AM IST and currently has 1410 reposts, 219 quotes, and 5628 likes. It has over 683k views at the moment.

Flipkart’s Response

Responding to all the outrage in the replies section, Flipkart has shared an automated kind of post that states- “Our deepest apologies for your experience with the return request. We want to sort this out for you. Please drop us a DM with your order details so that they remain confidential here.”

Since Flipkart keeps posting these 2-3 automated responses all the time, there is very little hope that the matter will be resolved soon.

If incidents like these keep happening and these e-commerce websites keep robbing consumers of their hard-earned money, then the percentage of people using online shopping websites will keep declining. Flipkart and Amazon should ensure that they do not scam their consumers like this or they will be at a loss.
