The Indian automaker Mahindra has shocked the market with its latest electric SUVs. The XEV 9e and the BE 6e are vehicles with several segment-first features, such as a three-screen setup on the former or a 682-kilometer claimed range with the latter. However, there are a few aspects wherein the XEV 9e and BE 6e differ, and it is essential for the buyers to know about them before purchasing either of the cars.
XEV 9e Is Larger Than BE 6e
Out of Mahindra’s two electric SUVs, the XEV 9e is the bigger one (even though both of them are based on the same INGLO platform). The car measures 4790 x 1905 x 1690 mm, making it bigger than the XUV 700. On the other hand, the BE 6e measures 4371 x 1907 x 1627 mm. Hence, even though both cars are equally broad, the XEV 9e is significantly longer. Despite being longer, the XEV 9e can house only five people.
Even though the cars don’t share dimensions, they have the same wheelbase length: 2775 mm. Even the ground clearance of 207 mm is common on both vehicles. While the XEV 9e takes around 10 meters to turn, the BE 6e turns in slightly less space.
With The Larger Size Comes A Larger Boot
The BE 6e, being smaller in length, has the smaller boot of the two. It provides a space of around 455 liters. In comparison, the XEV 9e has a massive boot of 663 liters. Even though the smaller electric SUV can fit in luggage for two to four people, the larger boot will allow for a comfortable commuting experience, especially for people who prefer heavy packing.
Regarding the frunk on the front, the XEV 9e provides 150 liters of space, while the BE 6e provides 45 liters.

Mahindra XEV 9e Comes With Three Screens
In a first in the segment, Mahindra has equipped the XEV 9e with three 12.3-inch screens. The resolution of the screens is 1920 x 720. Further, they run on the company’s Adrenox software, which uses the Artificial Intelligence Architecture (51 TOPS).
Under the hood, the system features the Snapdragon 8295 processor, 24GB of RAM, and 128GB of onboard storage. In addition, it also supports 5G, Bluetooth v5.2, and Wi-Fi 6.0 connectivity options.
The screen behind the steering acts as the instrument cluster, showing vital details like the vehicle’s speed, distance to empty, battery percentage, etc. In the center is the main infotainment screen for viewing navigation, playing songs, or other entertainment apps.
Interestingly, the left passenger (co-driver) also gets a 12.3-inch screen for viewing photos, videos, or other similar stuff. It would be interesting to see whether the left-most screen allows the co-passenger to connect Bluetooth headphones for a personalized viewing experience.
On the other hand, the BE 6e will feature two 12.3-inch floating screens: one behind the steering (acts as the instrument cluster) and the other on the dashboard (acts as the infotainment screen).
As long as we’re talking about the interiors, it is important to mention that the XEV 9e is more like a traditional car, while the BE 6e features a throttle-like drive mode selector and roof-mounted controls.

Both Electric SUVs Get 19-inch Alloy Wheels
By default, both vehicles get 19-inch alloy wheels (245/55 R19) with the new aerodynamic design, which helps reduce drag and increase the car’s range. However, buyers also get the option to upgrade to the 20-inch rims (245/50 R20), which should provide slightly better control and grip over the road. The spare tire on both vehicles is a 135/80 R18.
