LG V60 ThinQ with 5G, Dual Screens, and Snapdragon 865 Goes Official

LG has announced its 2020 flagship – the LG V60 ThinQ. The phone packs the flesh of a flagship with dual screens. It is the screen treatment we have already seen on the precursor. This time around the phone has upgraded internals viz. the latest Snapdragon 865 along with 5G functionality. Rest it clads the bells and whistles such as Quad DAC, 8K Video recording, etcetera.

LG suits up with a 6.8-inch full-HD+ (1080×2460 pixels) waterdrop notched OLED panel on the front. This display offers 395ppi pixel density, HDR10+ support, and 20.5:9 aspect ratio. It is shielded by Gorilla Glass 5 while the back is protected by GS6.

In that notch lies a 10MP camera and as for the rear, you get a 64MP triplet. The main sensor is accompanied by a secondary 13MP 117-degree ultrawide snapper and lastly a 0.3MP ToF sensor. Camera features include 8K video recording, which is courtesy of SD 865.

Speaking which, the insides comprise of the latest Qualcomm offering with X55 modem, which means 5G future-proofed. The internals also includes 8GB RAM and 256GB ( expansion up to 2TB) onboard storage. It ships with Android 10.

You still get a 3.5mm jack equipped with 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC for an enhanced auditory experience through your headphones. It sports a stereo speaker, 4Ch microphones, 3D Sound Engine, and “voice bokeh” feature.

Now on to the real eccentricity ie – Dat Dual Screen! It sizes to 6.8-inches with Full-HD+ (1080×2460 pixels) resolution, 20.5:9 aspect ratio and 395ppi pixel density. You can run multiple apps, employ it as a game controller, etc. On the outer surface, you get a 2.1-inch monochromatic cover display for time and notifications. The two screens are held together by a 360-degree ‘freestop’ hinge that flexes in different forms viz. tent, flat, 90 degrees, and more. The secondary addon display is well connected via a USB-C port.

All of these rely on a 5000mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging, USB Power Delivery 2.0 and Wireless charging. Amongst other things, you get NFC, USB-C socket, Bluetooth 5.1, WiFi 6, aptX HD codec, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and IP68 dust/water resistance.

LG V60 ThinQ Pricing and Availability

LG hasn’t revealed the exact pricing and availability details yet. However, we know it is set to arrive by this spring. As for the price tag, it is expected to come less than what the standard Galaxy S20 (review) costs.
