LG G6 with 5.7-inch Display and UX 6.0, Dual Cameras Launched at MWC’17

The South Korean conglomerate just launched its much-awaited offering and the 2017 flagship LG G6,  in Barcelona at the MWC stage.

The LG G6 comes with minimalistic design and is carved out of glass and metal to ensure appealing aesthetics. It boasts of a bezel-less 5.7-inch QHD display with an ultra-wide aspect ratio of 18:9 and 564ppi pixel density. The LG G6 comes with Dolby vision and HDR 10 to deliver an immersive experience on the LG G6 “full vision” display.

Netflix and Amazon are set to stream in Dolby Vision content soon. The G6 buyers will be able to enjoy $200 worth of in-game purchases on selected games.

A 2.3Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 821 SoC powers LG’s latest offering supported by a 6GB RAM, which will also have a brand new UX 6.0 UI with notable changes in the camera UI as well (such as the ‘Square Mode’ that allows pictures to be shot in 1:1 ratio), that will divide the display into two identical windows for so that the users can simultaneously shoot and preview the same.

Furthermore, the device is IP68 certified water and dust resistant and has wireless charging facilities. The G6 is also the only smartphone in the world to come with Google Assistant (excluding the Pixels, of course).

Camera hardware is also the phone’s high points, with LG again (after G5 and V20) opting for a now common dual camera setup at the back. It comes with dual 13MP unit offers a 125-degree field of view while the 12MP selfie snapper at the front offers a 100-degree one.

By the looks of it, LG has done a nice job marketing the phone but its real test would be against Samsung’s S8 flagship, which boasts of the latest Snapdragon 835 chipset.
