iPhone SE 4, the next-gen and probably the last affordable SE variant, is due to arrive in 2025 as per the latest update. Additionally, we have heard about the significant design changes that Apple has kept under wraps for the iPhone SE 4. Perhaps, it will see the same design as the 2022 iPhone 14. Here’s more about the recent findings.
The reports suggest the iPhone SE 4 (2025) will see a modified design of the iPhone 14. It is a major upgrade over the iPhone SE 3 which was based on the age-old iPhone 8. Moreover, the phone will have similar dimensions to the iPhone 14 with the camera setup being a major design change we’d see.
When it comes to the dimensions, iPhone 14 stands at 146.7x 71.5x 7.80mm and weighs 172g and that’s around the same dimensions the iPhone SE 4 will follow once it rolls out in 2025. However, it will be approx 6g lighter at 165g thanks to its single camera setup at the back. Yep, the iPhone SE 4 will retain a single camera system at the back much like the iPhone SE 3 and we have heard about that enough already. The sensor is likely 48MP although we have to wait for some more time to get any confirmation. If true, we are already seeing a significant upgrade on the iPhone SE 4 compared to its predecessor.
There are no changes in the materials used which means the iPhone SE 4 will have a flat display design and will be using the same 6013 T6 aluminium we saw with the iPhone 14. We have heard about the integration of a single biometric i.e. Face ID onboard iPhone SE 4. This will replace the Touch ID that we have already seen with the predecessors owing to the upgraded design.
In other news, we have seen an iPhone SE 4 prototype clad in a majestic black colorway similar to the iPhone 14 and it can be easily deduced that the black colorway is at least the first of the confirmed colorways for the upcoming iPhone SE 4.
Moving on, we are seeing two massive upgrades that even the iPhone 14 doesn’t have. I am talking about a USB-C port and an iPhone 15 Pro’s Action button. For the unversed, the Action button is a user-programmable button that replaced the alert slider on the iPhone 15 Pro with various functions embedded in a capacitive touch button. Another upgrade will be the USB-C port as said earlier that should open whole new possibilities for iPhone users that have largely remained restricted to their ecosystem.
Keeping the current development status in mind, the fourth-gen iPhone SE 4 is speculated to release sometime in 2025. Since the iPhone SE 2 (2020) and the iPhone SE 3 (2022) were launched in April and March, respectively, I would suggest a similar timeline for the upcoming iPhone SE 4. It means we could get our hands on the iPhone SE 4 in March or April 2025.
