Apple has released iOS 27 Beta 2 for developers, and it feels like a meaningful step forward from the first beta. While it doesn’t bring any major new features, it focuses on refining existing ones, especially Siri, and fixing several annoying bugs that were present in Beta 1.

Siri Gets Faster and Smarter

The most noticeable improvement in this beta is with Siri. Apple has made it faster and more responsive overall. The old “Indexing in Progress” message has been replaced with “Optimizing Search in Siri,” which better reflects what the system is actually doing.

There’s also a new setting called Highlight to Image Search. This lets you highlight text or objects and quickly search for them using images through Siri.

Another handy change is the new Write with Siri suggestion that now appears directly in the keyboard. Writing Tools in the keyboard have also been returned, and now include Proofread and Rewrite options, making it easier to quickly fix or improve text without leaving the app you’re in.

Small but Useful Tweaks Across the System

Apple has made several small quality-of-life changes in this beta:

  • The Camera app now highlights active hidden menu options more clearly, so you can see at a glance which features are turned on.
  • Wallet has gained a new Insights section that shows basic spending analytics (currently in limited rollout).
  • When creating passes in Wallet, the backgrounds now have a slight texture instead of being completely flat.
  • The microphone indicator during calls now stays visible the entire time instead of disappearing.
  • RCS messages now support inline replies, which was missing before.

There are also some minor visual tweaks to Apple Pay and a few UI adjustments in the Settings app.

Bug Fixes in Beta 2

This beta addresses several frustrating issues from the previous version:

  • Cropped screenshots now save correctly.
  • iPhone Mirroring on Mac is working much more reliably.
  • The persistent “Talk to Siri” setup prompt that kept appearing has finally been removed.
  • Wi-Fi dropouts when locking and unlocking the iPhone have been fixed.
  • Grid view loading issues across the system have been resolved.
  • The annoying keyboard pop-up bug in Notes and other apps has been fixed.

Overall Impression

iOS 27 Beta 2 feels more polished than the first beta. Siri’s improved responsiveness stands out the most, and the bug fixes make daily use feel smoother. It’s not a dramatic update, but it addresses several small annoyances that developers and early testers were facing.

If you’re running Beta 1, this update is worth installing. The improvements are noticeable enough that it feels like a proper step in the right direction.

Beta 3 is expected in early July, with the public beta likely following shortly after.
