Peter Chou, the CEO of HTC who guided the organization to blossom into a flower from a bud, is no more in power on top of the hierarchical order of authority. As the company suffered a downfall in smartphone market under the guidance of Peter Chou, he has been relieved of his services and exists no more as the company’s CEO. HTC announced on Friday morning that Chou is stepping down as CEO, and he will be replaced by chairwoman and company co-founder Cher Wang.

“We are seeing rapid changes in the industry, with the smartphone as our personal hub connecting us to a growing world of smart devices. We pioneered the smartphone industry; now we are applying that thinking to realize the potential of a new generation of connected products and services,” new CEO Wang said. She added, “The overwhelming response that our virtual reality product, HTC Vive, received earlier this month underlines the importance of these new connected technologies for our future.”

HTC revealed that Peter Chou will continue to be with HTC as the head of the Future Development Lab and that the co-founder Cher Wang will now carry the baton of leadership to guide the company as the new CEO.
