Steps to Reverse a UPI Transaction

1. Contact Customer Support– Reach out to your bank’s or UPI service provider’s customer support immediately. Give them all the details like the transaction reference number, date, and amount. This information is important for the reversal process.

2. Explain the Reason– clearly state the reason for requesting a reversal, such as sending funds to the wrong recipient or an unauthorized transaction. This will help them assess your case better.

3. Respect Time Limits– Be mindful of any time limits imposed by your bank or UPI service provider for requesting reversals. If you initiate the process within a certain time limit, it increases the chances of success.

4. Wait for approval- Once you have given the necessary details, your Bank or UPI service provider will review your request. If it meets the criteria for reversal and is approved, they will initiate the UPI Auto-Reversal process.

5. Confirmation- You will get a confirmation from your bank or UPI service provider regarding the outcome of the reversal. If successful, the refunded amount will be credited back to your account. Keep in mind that the process will take some time.

6. Stay vigilant and Prepared– While transactions are reversed under some conditions, prevention is the best option. Maintain a record of your transactions, stay vigilant, secure your UPI PIN, and double-check recipient details to ensure a seamless digital experience.
