The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has previously made it necessary to file nominations for respective EPF accounts. Additionally, EPFO has made the complete process easier by allowing EPF account holders to do e-nomination without pushing them to the office for physical nominations. Each EPF account holder can nominate one or more persons to their accounts and can decide different percentage amounts for each nominee. In case the member has no family, one person can be nominated and such nomination becomes invalid once the member acquires a family. EPFO had declared March 31 as the last date for e-nomination but somehow, if you have failed, you can file the nomination online now.
How to file your EPFO e-nomination
We have created easy steps to file your nomination for the EPF account and here’s how to do it.
1. Go to the official EPFO website — www.epfindia.gov.in
2. Click on the ‘Service’ option from the menu strip and tap ‘For Employees’.
3. Under Services, click on ‘Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP)’ to get redirected to the UAN portal.

4. Enter your Universal Account Number (UAN), Password, and captcha. Hit the ‘Sign in’ button.
5. Head to the Manage Tab and choose the ‘e-nomination’ option.

6. Tap on the ‘Enter New Nomination’ option to open the form. The page will also show already filed nominations in a table. You can conveniently add more than one nominee for your EPFO e-nomination.
7. Click on the ‘Add Family Details’ option to add personal details of the nominee including name, passport size photo, Aadhaar details, and relation with the account holder.
8. Click on the ‘Nomination Details’ option to declare the total amount of shares. Tap on the ‘Save EPF Nomination’ option.
9. Hit on the ‘E-sign’ option to generate OTP.

You are all done with the EPF e-nomination process. Repeat these steps each time you want to add a nominee for your EPF account. You are no longer required to do physical verifications.

How to Activate Your UAN
In case your UAN account is not updated, here’s how you can do it.
- Visit the UAN portal ‘unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface’ and go to the ‘Important Links’ option. Or just Click Here.
- Enter your UAN or EPFO Member ID.
- Provide other personal information including your Aadhaar number, name, date of birth, and mobile number.
- Enter the captcha, provide your consent, and hit the ‘Get Authorisation Pin’ button.
- Enter the OTP received on the linked mobile number and follow the on-screen instructions.
