Last week, Google announced that it will hold its developer’s conference I/O 2023 on May 10 this year. During the I/O 2023, Google is expected to launch certain hardware products as well. These include the third member of the Pixel 7 series- Pixel 7a, the brand’s first foldable Pixel Fold, Pixel buds, and more. Now there has been some development in terms of Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold as the specs of the former have surfaced online while the latter has been spotted in the real world. Let us have a look at what we know about these two devices.

Pixel 7a: Specs & Details

The Pixel 7a will be a mid-ranger and a successor to Pixel 6a that came out last year. Pixel 7a is expected to look similar to Pixel 6a but will come with hardware upgrades to make it better than the predecessor. Just like Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, the Pixel 7a will be powered by Google’s Tensor G2 chipset paired with at least 6GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The renders that have surfaced online claiming that the display will be similar to the one on Pixel 6a, but it will actually be a 6.1-inch OLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate and a better fingerprint sensor. It will continue to have a metal frame with a plastic back panel but is said to get some new color options.

The Pixel 7a is said to have all the software capabilities of a high-end Pixel device and it might also get a high-resolution primary camera this time. Pixel 7a is said to come with wireless and reverse wireless charging capabilities as well. Just like Pixel 6a, Pixel 7a will come with at least IP67 protection for water and dust resistance.

Considering that Pixel 7a will be launched during the I/O 2023, it might ship with Android 13 out of the box, with an Android 14 update following soon after. In terms of India pricing, Google Pixel 7a might cost around Rs. 40,000 in the country. Pixel 6a might receive a price slash when Pixel 7a launches in India.

Pixel Fold spotted on Subway

Foldables are on an all-time rise and seems like Google won’t be left far behind as the company might be planning to launch its first foldable during the I/O 2023 in May. Google Pixel Fold has been spotted live. A Redditor claims to have seen a Google employee holding the Pixel Fold in his hands. Looking at the images, we can also glimpse what appears to be Pixel fold’s cover screen and noticeable bezels on the back.

From the live images, we can see the cover screen of the foldable, while the actual unfolded large screen is not visible. The design seems similar to the Oppo Find N2 as there’s a compact cover screen and a large folding display. The person who is using the foldable is watching a video on the device. This is the first time Pixel Fold has been spotted live and if the brand is coming up with the foldable in May, many more such images will be visible in the near future. The foldable will definitely be available in black, but other shades might also be launched.

Pixel Fold: Expected specs

Earlier reports claimed that the Pixel Fold will sport a 7.57-inch foldable screen and a 5.78-inch cover screen made by Google. The foldable will probably be powered by the Tensor G2 chipset that powers Pixel 7 Pro as well. The foldable is said to pack a 4700mAh battery and run Android 13 OS along with having a triple camera setup at the back. Google is also expected to continue using the rear camera strap over the back panel to give the Pixel Fold a distinguished look.

The Google Pixel Fold is expected to cost around 1800 USD when it launches but its exact price will be known during the I/O 2023, so we’ll have to wait for a few more months.
