Gionee today outed two new smartphones, the M6 and M6 Plus, in China. As one might expect, these new Marathon series flagships drop the ‘Marathon’ moniker, house hulking batteries and are primarily differentiated by their respective display sizes.

The best part about Gionee’s Marathon series is the convenience of a battery that refuses to die. However, big batteries can take forever to charge too. Gionee thus includes 9V/2A fast charging support with a dual charging chip. This is the same charging tech that we experience in Marathon M5 Plus as well. It works.

The M6 Plus comes with 6-inch Full HD AMOLED display, is powered by 2GHz Octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor and is running Android Marshmallow based Amigo OS 3.5.

Oh, and yes, It has a massive 6020mAh battery.

The M6, on the other hand, has a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED panel, same Helio P10 silicon ticking at 1.8GHz, and a 5000 mAh battery. You can compare the detailed specifications in the table below.

Design-wise, the M6, and M6 Plus don’t divert much from the Marathon M5 Plus. The loudspeaker has apparently shifted from the rear side to the bottom edge (judging from the press renders), which is a good thing.

“For 14 years, Gionee has been dedicated to smartphone manufacture. We value two things: technological innovation and consumer benefits. With these goals in mind, we were dedicating to transforming the smartphone into a ‘smile phone’ with our independent R&D capabilities. The Gionee M6 is the product of this goal and has outstanding performance via the breakthrough software and hardware which will make every consumer smile from their heart,” said Mr. Lu.

Both Marathon M6 and M6 Plus will be available in two storage variants (64GB and 128GB), and two colors (Gold & Latte Gold).
