It’s that time of year again. Apple kicked off its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) today, unveiling significant updates across its operating systems. Say hello to iOS 26, an update centered around a sleek, new design language that Apple has dubbed “Liquid Glass.”

While a new look is exciting, the biggest question for many users is whether their current iPhone will support the new update. True to its reputation for long-term device support, which typically covers products for six years, Apple confirmed a wide range of iPhones will be compatible.

Three Models Dropped from Support

However, with every new software generation, some older models are left behind. This year, Apple is officially ending its software update cycle for three popular models from 2018.

The following iPhones will not support iOS 26:

  • iPhone XS
  • iPhone XS Max
  • iPhone XR

It’s important to note that even if your iPhone is on the compatibility list, it may not receive every new feature.

iOS 26 Release Date

For developers eager to get started, the first beta of iOS 26 is expected to be available today. The final, stable version will be released to the public this fall, likely right after the launch of the new iPhone lineup.
