Fitbit’s Ambitious Blaze Smartwatch Launched In India, Investors Unconvinced

Fitbit has stepped up its game and launched, what can be called, its first fashionable Smartwatch, Fitbit Blaze, which will be available in India starting from 19,999 INR. Though Fitbit has launched a smartwatch before (Fitbit Surge), the Blaze elevates it to the same league as the Moto 360 or Apple Watch.

Fitbit still does not lose its priority focus on health and fitness, but Blaze is complimented by a slim, elegant design, full color display, provides customizable bands and watch frames, offers several custom watch faces and can relays important smartphone notifications.

Fitbit Surge is a step up for the company, but lack of proper app store and a proper ecosystem backing which Android Wear or Watch OS enjoy makes this a lower lever product. The day after Fitbit announced Blaze, its shares jettisoned by 18 percent. This implies investors weren’t very happy with the company’s decision to go big and take on tier 1 branded wearables.
