As we move toward the anticipated launch of the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025, details about the smartphones and their processors are emerging on the internet. Most recently, the processor that could power the baseline Galaxy S25 models, Exynos 2500, has been spotted on the popular benchmarking platform GeekBench.

Exynos 2500’s Reference Unit Consists Of A 2.59GHz Prime Core

According to a Geekbench listing published on October 16, 2024, the Exynos 2500 features a 10-core design. These include three prime cores (or high-performance cores) clocked at 2.59GHz, five balanced cores at 2.25GHz, and two efficient cores at 1.75GHz.
Given that the Exynos 2500 is supposed to be the successor of the Exynos 2400, it is a tad surprising that the clock speed for all the cores has been brought down. The Exynos 2400, featured on the Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S24 Plus, has one prime core clocked at 3.2GHz, two performance cores at 2.9GHz, three balanced cores at 2.6GHz, and four efficient cores at 1.95GHz.

The Xclipse 950 GPU Does Better, Though

The chipset’s GPU, Xclipse 950, with a maximum frequency of 1.3GHz, was able to score 15,960 points on GeekBench’s OpenCL test. It is important to mention here that the S24+, with the Exynos 2400 SoC, scored 15,280 points on the same test. When compared to the CPU, the GPU featured a slightly improved performance with eight computing cores.
The alleged Exynos 2500 SoC was spotted on an Exynos Reference Design (ERD) unit by “Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Full Android on S5E9955.” The unit featured 8GB of RAM and ran on Android 15.
