Redmi is preparing for a major market push in India, targeting two entirely opposite ends of the consumer spectrum. According to an exclusive leak from trusted industry insider Yogesh Brar, the brand will simultaneously drop a premium performance beast and an ultra-affordable 5G daily driver soon.

Mark your calendars for June 18. Our source confirms that Redmi will officially pull back the curtain on both smartphones on this date. This includes the Redmi Turbo 5 and the Redmi 17 5G.

Redmi Turbo 5 Specsheet

In a surprising twist, Redmi is planning to bring a Turbo branded product to India. This is in-line with their plans to bring Xiaomi 17T to India as well. The Redmi Turbo 5 coming to India is eaxctly similar to the one that is already up for sale in China.

This means power users get the exact same premium package, a phone with a 6.59″ 1.5K resolution AMOLED panel, and a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset. To keep the device running through days of heavy use, it packs a massive 7,560mAh silicon-carbon battery that supports 100W fast charging. On the photography side, you will find a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization alongside an 8MP ultra-wide lens, while a 20MP front shooter handles selfies.

Positioned strictly as an entry-level 5G smartphone, the Redmi 17 5G is engineered from the ground up to serve as the perfect, wallet-friendly upgrade path for millions of consumers looking to transition away from aging 4G to the new gen 5G networks.

While we do not know much about the Redmi 17 in terms of the specs, other than the basics. For starters, the phone will sport a high refresh rate LCD panel, Snapdragon 4 series chipset, and a large 7,000mAh+ battery. On the optics side, the Redmi 17 might feature a 50MP primary camera with an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone is expected to boot the latest version of Xiaomi’s HyperOS based on Android 16.
