Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Spreadtrum demonstrated their upcoming Dual SIM Dual VoLTE smartphone at India Mobile Congress. Why do you need Dual SIM Dual VoLTE?
As many of you must have noticed, If you have two SIM card on your phone (Jio + Non-Jio) and when you run 4G LTE on the non-Jio SIM card, the network on the Jio SIM vanishes. That’s because Jio only works with 4G LTE networks and your phone can connect only one SIM to 4G LTE at a time.
The next generation chipsets will, however, resolve this issue.
At the end of the day, Dual SIM Dual VoLTE support shall result in better call quality (HD or Ultra HD) on both SIM cards simultaneously. And you will have the option to be able to use Data on a non-JIO SIM card without giving up on Jio’s free calling privileges.
Is there any phone that comes with dual SIM dual VoLTE in India?
As of today, there is no phone that supports VoLTE on both SIM cards simultaneously. You can run VoLTE on either SIM 1 and SIM 2, but only on one slot at a time.
Qualcomm had a couple of functional prototypes to demonstrate the technology by making HD calls using both SIM cards without any need for switching LTE networks. In India, Qualcomm is already testing it with Jio and Airtel VoLTE SIM cards.
