After almost a decade, the Counter Strike franchise is set to come back into the gaming market with Counter Strike 2. The upcoming game is going to be the successor of Counter Strike: GO which was one of the best games of its time. In the official announcement, the brand shared a handful of videos that shows the modifications and changes made to make it a hit. Moving further in this article, we will talk about the details related to Counter Strike 2, including the release date, pricing, platforms, in-game details, beta testing, and a lot more.

Counter Strike 2 launch date

As of now, there is no official statement regarding the exact launch date of the game. According to the official statement by Valve, the game will be rolled out in the Summer of 2023. Speculations are that we will get to play the game by May or June 2023. The same can get delayed as per the situation. Apart from that, there is a limited beta test of the game going on in the market. A few players who will have luck on their side will get selected for testing Counter Strike 2 and share their feedback based on the latest feature upgrades.

Counter Strike 2 platforms and pricing

The Official Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) of Counter Strike 2 suggested that the game will be based on the free-to-play model. The game will be based on the Source 2 engine that packs upgrades in terms of graphics and gameplay features. Counter Strike 2 beta testing model is only available for the PC as of now. The company has not even confirmed if the game will ever make it to the consoles like PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and others. However, considering the popularity of the game, we can say that it might have a console version too.

Counter Strike 2 in-game details

One of the most important changes in upcoming game by Valva as compared to the CS: GO, will be the modification of lighting and visuals. It is being said that the game will be based on the physical rendering system and will deliver realistic materials, reflection, and lighting. The dark place in the game will have a proper reflection to enhance the gaming experience.

Another major change will be the rework of maps which is quite necessary too. Valve will update some of the maps from CS: GO. The update is being subdivided into Overhauls, Touchstone, and Upgrades. Out of which, Overhauls indicates the maps that will be entirely revamped. Maps falling in the Upgrade category will get modified with the Source 2 system. On the other hand, the maps in the touchstone category will be upgraded in terms of gameplay alterations, lighting and graphics updates.
