BMW India has introduced the latest iX1 electric SUV, with a starting price of Rs 66.90 lakh (ex-showroom). This SUV is offered in a fully loaded M Sport variant and the xDrive30 specification. The iX1 marks BMW’s second all-electric SUV in India, following the larger iX, and is the brand’s fourth electric vehicle offering in the Indian market.

BMW iX1Features

Derived from the recently launched new-generation X1 in India earlier this year, the iX1 closely resembles its design, making it challenging to distinguish it as an electric vehicle. Inside, it mirrors the interior of conventional internal combustion-powered BMW SUVs, featuring a curved display that houses a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch touchscreen.

The iX1 impresses on the equipment front, boasting a rich array of features that include adaptive LED headlamps, adaptive suspension, dual-zone climate control, driver-seat memory function, a panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, hands-free parking, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system. On the safety side, it’s well-equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system.

BMW iX1 Powertrain

Under the hood, the iX1 is equipped with a 66.4 kWh battery pack coupled with two electric motors—one on each axle. This configuration delivers a robust total system output of 308 bhp and 494 Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 kmph in a swift 5.6 seconds. The iX1 offers an impressive WLTP-certified range of up to 440 km and supports fast charging, with compatibility for both 11 kW AC and 130 kW DC charging.

BMW is going the extra mile to facilitate EV ownership, as each unit of the electric SUV will include a complimentary 11 kW wall box charger. Additionally, owners will have convenient access to fast chargers situated at BMW dealerships in 35 cities. The 11 kW charger can efficiently recharge the battery from 0 to 100 percent in approximately 6.3 hours, while the high-speed 130 kW DC fast charger significantly reduces charging time, taking only about 29 minutes to charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent.
