Can’t download the Tiktok app from Google Playstore or App Store on iOS? Well, Tiktok along with 58 other apps have been removed from these app marketplaces after a crackdown by the Indian government. Tiktok, a popular short video sharing Chinese app, has been under the radar of regulatory bodies all across the globe due to its steep rise and due to associated data security concerns.

In India, TikTok has now been banned by the Ministry of Information and Technology under Section 69A of IT act as it is deemed to be involved in “activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order,” the ministry stated in its order.

There is some merit behind these allegations. Recently, Tiktok was alleged to be reading contents of the clipboards without permission on iOS 14 devices.
