Asus ZenFone Go is now available on virtual Flipkart retail shelves and replaces ZenFone Laser as the most inexpensive current gen ZenFone, at 7,999 INR.

The design is similar to yesteryear Zenfone 5 rather than the current array of Zenfone 2 variants. This isn’t after all a bad thing as we weren’t big fan of rear-key and odd power button placement on the current gen devices. On the front side, 5 Inch HD display is lined with three capacitive navigation keys and the signature Zenfone metallic chin at the bottom.

Zenfone Go is powered by MediaTek MT6580, which is a 32 bit Cortex A7 based chipset, similar to MT6582 that was immensely popular in budget devices last year (before the 64 bit transition). We have recently seen the same SoC in a slew of devices including Canvas Juice 3, Canvas Selfie 2 and 3, and Gionee P3S.

Other features include 2GB RAM, 8GB storage, 64 GB MicroSD support, Android 5.1 Lollipop, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, Dual SIM, 2070mAh battery, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS.

Commenting on the launch, Peter Chang, Regional Head – South Asia & Country Manager – System Business Group – ASUS India, said, “We are excited to announce the availability of ZenFone Go for our Indian users. Being the third largest home to smartphone users, India is a critical market for us and we intend to bring cutting edge products to consumers here, who seek power packed design sensibilities of a high-end smartphone at competitive prices.”
