Advanced cooling, and a wide range of ports make the Scar 18 a future-ready choice for gaming, streaming, and heavy multitasking.

Asus showed off the ROG Strix Scar 18 at Computex 2026, highlighting its top gaming laptop. It runs on up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, so you get plenty of power for demanding games. The 18-inch 4K display refreshes at 240Hz, which keeps fast action smooth. Asus improved the cooling, added Wi-Fi 7, and made it simple to upgrade RAM and storage without a screwdriver.

Asus first launched the 2026 ROG Strix Scar 18 in May in an Off Black finish. Now, the company is showing it off again at Computex 2026 as part of its new gaming lineup.

Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 (2026) Features

The ROG Strix Scar 18 flaunts an 18-inch 4K mini-LED screen. It refreshes at 240Hz and responds in 3ms, so games look sharp and stay smooth. You get Dolby Vision, Nvidia G-SYNC, and full DCI-P3 color. This means colors look accurate and vibrant. The screen reaches an HDR brightness of up to 1,600 nits. Over 2,000 dimming zones boost contrast. The anti-glare finish reduces reflections. The display tech keeps motion blur to a minimum.

The flagship machine gets a flagship processor. Asus has packed  an Intel Core Ultra 9-290HX Plus processor. The laptop also features an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU. This setup lets the laptop handle the latest games and heavy workloads without breaking a sweat. The graphics card supports Nvidia DLSS 4 and Multi-Frame Generation. These features help boost frame rates and image quality. The system can push up to 320W of power. The GPU runs at up to 175W. For AI tasks, the processor has built-in AI features. Two-Way AI Noise Cancellation keeps your calls and streams clear.

You can load the ROG Strix Scar 18 with up to 128GB of DDR5 RAM at 6400 MHz across two SO-DIMM slots. For storage, it supports up to 8 TB of PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSDs. This is set up as two 4TB drives in RAID 0 for faster speeds.

Asus upgraded the cooling system with an end-to-end vapor chamber, a layered heat sink, and ultrathin 0.1mm copper fins. The vapor chamber is 20 percent bigger than before. The new fans push 91 percent more air than the last model, according to Asus.

You get plenty of ports. These include two Thunderbolt 5 USB-C ports, three USB-A ports, HDMI 2.1, 2.5G Ethernet, DC-in, and a headphone jack. Wi-Fi 7 covers wireless connections. Upgrading RAM and storage is easy. Tool-less access and the ROG Q-Latch system make upgrades simple.

The laptop features a backlit keyboard with per-key RGB lighting, a Copilot key, and a full RGB light bar. The lid has an illuminated ROG logo and an AniMetrix Vision LED array. You can adjust or turn off the lighting in the Armory Crate. For audio, you get Smart Amp, Dolby Atmos, Hi-Res Audio, and Two-Way AI Noise Cancellation.

The Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 packs a 90Wh battery. It ships with a 450W power adapter. The gaming laptop measures 399 × 298 × 23.5-35mm and weighs 3.7kg.
