TL; DR
  • Apple Watch Series 12 launches in India at ₹56,900, with sales starting September 18.
  • New Health Sensing System measures heart rate every 5 seconds and HRV 24x more often.
  • A new daily Readiness score and Audio Intelligence features like Live Rewind debut on the watch.

At its September launch event, Apple unveiled the Watch Series 12, the successor to the Watch Series 11. This year, the headline feature isn’t a design change. It’s an entirely rebuilt sensor system that the company claims delivers the most accurate heart rate readings of any wearable that’s currently on the market.

We can only verify that claim by testing the device, but for now, here’s everything we know about the new Apple Watch Series 12.

Apple Watch Series 12: Pricing & Availability

The Apple Watch Series 12 starts at ₹56,900 in India, which is substantially higher than the US starting price of $399 (~₹38,000). Pre-orders are open now, and retail sales begin September 18, 2026.

Buyers get three months of Apple Fitness+ and Apple Music included with their Watch Series 12 purchase. AppleCare+ remains available separately for accidental damage and battery coverage, though at a higher price than before.

Apple Watch Series 12: Key Features & Specifications

The new Health Sensing System, powered by Apple’s S11 chip, measures heart rate every five seconds throughout the day. Remember the rebuilt sensor system I mentioned? It consists of larger, more power-efficient green LEDs. As a result, heart rate variability tracking is now 24 times more frequent.

It is split into two separate readings: Recovery HRV for daily stress signals and overall HRV for longer-term cardiovascular insight. Building on this enormous pool of data is Readiness (already present on other smart wearables), a daily score from 0 to 10 that considers recent activity, training load, and sleep quality to tell you when your body is ready to push hard or needs more time to recover.

The pedometer now delivers the most accurate step-tracking.

Battery life holds steady at 24 hours of everyday use (a subjective term that depends entirely on your usage). However, workout endurance jumps 25% to 10 hours outdoors. Finally, 15 minutes on the charger now buys 12 hours of extra runtime, which could come in handy if you’ve forgotten to plug the wearable in at night and want to go off for a quick workout in the morning.

New Health MetricReadiness score

Layered on top is Audio Intelligence, a suite of unique features like Live Rewind, Siri Recap, Sound Recognition, and faster Shazam. The redesigned Health app with a new Longevity tab and a Health Age metric arrives later this year. However, Siri AI rolls out in beta from September 14, 2026.

I think Readiness is the feature that’ll actually change Apple Watch users’ daily habits. I am also curious about the new Audio Intelligence features, which sound genuinely unique on paper. For now, we’ve to consider everything at its face value, and for Apple, that’s quite good.
