Apple has launched CarPlay Ultra, the latest iteration of its CarPlay system, in new Aston Martin vehicles across the USA and Canada starting today. Existing models equipped with the brand’s next-generation infotainment system will receive this upgrade via a software update in the upcoming weeks. CarPlay Ultra enhances the CarPlay experience, striving to provide the ultimate in-car experience by seamlessly integrating the capabilities of the iPhone with the vehicle’s features.

Talking about CarPlay Ultra, Bob Archer, VP of Worldwide Product Marketing, says, “iPhone users love CarPlay and it has transformed how people connect with their vehicles. With CarPlay Ultra, together with automakers, we are reimagining the in-car experience, making it even more unified and consistent. This next generation of CarPlay gives drivers a smarter, safer way to use their iPhone in the car, while deeply integrating with the car’s systems and showcasing the unique look and feel of each automaker. We are excited to kick off the rollout of CarPlay Ultra with Aston Martin- and this is just the beginning, with more automakers on the way.”

CarPlay Ultra: Features

CarPlay Ultra will provide content for all driver displays, including the instrument cluster, featuring dynamic and diverse options for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and additional elements to ensure a cohesive appearance throughout the driving experience. Drivers will be able to view information from their iPhone, such as maps, media, and advanced driver assistance features directly within the instrument cluster.

Users can utilize onscreen controls, physical buttons, or Siri to operate both basic vehicle functions and specialized features. Additionally, CarPlay Ultra presents widgets from the iPhone that are designed to seamlessly integrate with the car’s display, providing quick access to information.

CarPlay Ultra enables manufacturers to showcase their unique design philosophies while meeting customer expectations. It allows drivers to customize theme colors and wallpapers to reflect their personal preferences. CarPlay Ultra complements the beloved CarPlay, transforming the way users engage with their vehicles. Like CarPlay, it incorporates stringent privacy protections inherent to the iPhone.
