Apple opens its 1st ever store in India at BKC Mumbai: CEO Tim Cook present at the launch

The wait finally comes to an end as Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has opened the doors to the 1st ever-physical store in India. The first Apple store has opened at the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai today as the company celebrates its 25 years in India. CEO Tim Cook was present at the launch and he received a warm welcome from Apple fans in India.

The store will not just serve the customers to explore Apple products but also help them understand the products better in terms of functions and features. Commenting about the new store, Deirdre O’Brien, Senior VP of Retail said, “Apple BKC is a reflection of Mumbai’s vibrant culture and brings together the best of Apple in a beautiful, welcoming space for connection and community.”

About the Apple BKC Store

The Apple BKC features a triangular handcrafted timber ceiling that extends beyond the glass façade to the underside of the exterior canopy, reflecting the unique geometry of the store. Each tile used in the store is made up of 408 pieces of timber, forming 31 modules per tile with a total of 1000 tiles that make up the ceiling.

There are 450,000 individual timber elements, all of which were assembled in Delhi. When you enter the store, you will be welcomed by 2 stone walls sourced from Rajasthan and a 14-meter-long stainless steel staircase connecting the ground level and the cantilevered mezzanine.

The store is also designed to be one of the most energy-efficient Apple stores in the world. There is a solar array and zero reliance on fossil fuels for store operations. The store runs on 100% renewable energy. The store will have more than 100 team members who will speak over 20 languages, including local Indian languages.

Apple BKC: Store timings & offerings

The Apple BKC Store will open at 11:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM IST. At the Apple store, customers would be able to take advantage of the convenient Apple Pickup Service which will allow them to place online orders and pick up their products at a time that suits their schedule, making the shopping experience even more convenient.

The 2nd Apple store will be thrown open to the public on 20th April at 10 AM in Saket, New Delhi.
