Apple HomePod with Display delayed: Might arrive after WWDC 2025

Apple introduced the HomePod smart speaker in June 2017, followed by the release of the second-generation model in January 2023. The company has been developing a third-generation HomePod for some time, with recent leaks suggesting that this new version will feature a display. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo anticipates that the upcoming HomePod will include a 7-inch screen. Additionally, information regarding the launch timeline for this next-generation device has emerged online.

Apple HomePod with Display: Launch Timeline

The Apple HomePod featuring a display was initially scheduled for release in the first half of 2024. However, this timeline was subsequently revised to Q1 2025, and it has now been further postponed to after WWDC in 2025. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has indicated that the next-generation HomePod is expected to be officially launched in Q3 2025, likely between July and September of that year.

Apple 3rd Gen HomePod: Details

He asserts that the postponement of the display-enabled HomePod is attributed to difficulties in software development. This new HomePod is anticipated to feature Apple’s A18 chip and will offer enhanced smart home capabilities compared to existing models. Additionally, it will operate wirelessly with Apple’s smart home IP camera, which is expected to launch in 2026.

Apple is developing a wall-mounted design for its smart display, allowing the HomePod to be positioned anywhere in the home. This setup will serve as a central hub for managing smart home devices.

The previously stated HomePod with display is set to incorporate AI capabilities, such as environmental awareness and the ability to recognize the speaker. It will operate on a new operating system named HomeOS and is expected to be priced at approximately Rs. 84,000 in India.

According to reports, Apple plans to deliver 500,000 units of the HomePod with display in the second half of 2025, and if the product receives a positive reception, annual shipments could increase to one million units.
