AMD E3 2019 showstoppers were the high-end Radeon RX 5700 GPU series and the Ryzen 9 3950X CPU. Both of them boasts the world’s first technologies- The RX 5700 series for its new Navi architecture and Ryzen 9 3950X for the 16-core gaming CPU. Further, two new Ryzen 3000-series APUs were also unveiled with integrated graphics support.

Specswise, Radeon RX 5700 XT, which is the cream of the crop bears 40 RDNA compute units with 2,560 stream processors, for up to 9.75 Teraflops of bandwidth. It is clocked at a base speed of 1605MHz, a 1755MHz ‘game clock’ speed and up to 1905MHz turbo speed. It will support 8GB of GDDR6 RAM on a 256-bit bus for 448GBps of memory bandwidth.

Board power is rated at 225W. It needs 8-pin and one 6-pin PCIe power inputs.

Heat dissipation is carried out by a blower-style fan, an acoustically tuned aluminum alloy shroud, vapor chamber cooler, and overclocker-friendly 7-phase power design. The volume is ceiled at a volume of 43dB.

It packs DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0b, supporting up to 4K at 240Hz, 4K with HDR at 120Hz, or 8K with HDR at 60Hz. AMD has baked in a few nifty enhancements to the GPU including the Radeon Image Sharpening for ‘making the games look better’ and Radeon Anti-Lag for reducing the reaction time on tapping a button.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X CPU

AMD Ryzen 9 is a 12-core, 24-thread processor with its 3.8GHz base clock, 4.6GHz boost clock, 70MB of cache and a neoteric 105W TDP for all the 12 cores.

AMD claims that 60 percent of the speed and efficiency in performance could be attributed to the new design of its Zen 2 cores, which offer a 15 percent boost over the previous Zen architecture clock for clock.

It would fit into almost any existing AM4 motherboard, courtesy of a 12-layer substrate design. The company goes a step further by assuring backward compatibility for a foreseeable future.

AMD also bundles in an RGB LED-lit Wraith Prism cooler, which should support Razer Chroma lighting to sync up with your mouse, keyboard and other gaming gear.

AMD RX 5700 XT GPU and 3950X CPU availability

The Ryzen 9 3950X is coming this September and is priced at $750. The Radeon RX 5700 series would come out on July 7 with the highest variant priced at $449 (approximately Rs. 31,175 before taxes).
