Amazfit Cheetah Square Review: Design

The latest by Amazfit, the Cheetah Square Smartwatch has an Apple Watch Ultra-like design. The watch has a similar crown, buttons, and case. The brand has tried to make a good combination of elegance and functionality with this square smartwatch.

The Cheetah Square smartwatch has a thin and light form factor. It weighs merely 25 grams and is 9.9mm thick which makes it super comfortable to wear on the wrist for long durations. The lightweight polymer material doesn’t allow the smartwatch to have a premium look. Although the sleek aluminum alloy bezel does make it look aesthetic we expected a more premium design from Amazfit. The watch comes in a single Speedster grey color strap that doesn’t feel sweaty on your wrist and can be worn comfortably all day.

While the brand tries never to be prescriptive about which smartwatch targets whom, the design of the Amazfit Cheetah Square inclines it to be more of a feminine choice than its circular sibling.

The watch has three buttons, two on either side of the crown that can be used for navigation. The navigation system is slightly confusing with the digital crown used to progress through menus, while on the Apple Watch, it is the home button.

The watch has a decent-sized display and a very user-friendly interface. It is 5ATM rated which makes it safe to use in water. One doesn’t have to worry about rainwater falling on it or the watch accidentally dropping into the water.

Amazfit Cheetah Square Review: Display

The Amazfit Cheetah Square smartwatch sports a 1.75-inch AMOLED panel with the brightest display having 1000 nits peak brightness. It has a pixel density of 341 PPI and a significant 72.4% screen-to-body ratio. The watch has a 390×450 pixel resolution that is slightly hard to see under direct sunlight. As for indoors, the visuals are crisp and totally legible.

Amazfit Cheetah Square Review: Performance

The Amazfit Cheetah Square comes packed with plenty of smart features. The watch automatically shows notifications from your phone dedicatedly, and you can control which apps you want to control from your watch. There is Alexa which works fine when controlling IoT devices around you. Bluetooth calling from the wrist is also available, but the experience was underwhelming as there were issues connecting calls, and then the voice was not clearly audible.

There are no payment features or app store so no means of playing music from the watch. This is surely a downside as most smartwatches come with these functionalities.

The smartwatch has been designed with athletes and fitness enthusiasts in mind. It comes with Max Track technology that promises GPS accuracy. One can easily upload routes via the Zepp Health App and then follow them whether you are in a dense jungle or an isolated mountain. The maps are useful for city runs too. You can sync the map to your watch before you head out and scroll down to the map during a workout session to get a sense of your surroundings.

Health and Fitness features include a biometric sensor with blood oxygen sensor, calorie counter, step counters, heart rate monitor, sleep tracker, SpO2 levels, and more. The sensors are not exactly accurate but the readings don’t show much of a deviation when compared to real-time readings, which is good. The smartwatch runs Zepp OS 2.0 which offers an array of useful apps and features like Alexa and offline voice assistant.

The Cheetah Square is compatible with Zepp App which acts as a hub for all your health data as well as interaction with new features like AI chat.

Amazfit Cheetah Square Review: Battery Life

The Amazfit Cheetah Square packs a 285mAh battery which is smaller when compared to some other premium smartwatches. However, this small battery is included to keep the design sleek and light. The battery performs decently by providing up to 7-8 days of battery life if advanced features are turned off.

With features like nighttime blood oxygen and breathing regularity turned on, along with 24×7 stress monitoring the battery lasts for about 4.5 days which is okay. If you want all these features and more with longer battery life, Garmin watches will be a better option.

The battery-saver option ensures that the battery lasts for up to 14 days. During our usage, 12% battery drained out during a one-hour run, which was certainly not top-notch but still works.

Review Verdict: Should you buy Amazfit Cheetah Square?

The Amazfit Cheetah Square smartwatch is a holistic fitness wearable that is packed with loads of features and has an elegant design. It is a lightweight wearable that comes with Zepp Coach and Zepp Support. The watch has a decent GPS and accurate health sensors but one of its main downsides is its high price. For a price of around 20k in India, the Amazfit Cheetah Square is a good outdoors watch.
