Today, entertainment has become easily accessible all thanks to a wide range of shows and movies streaming on OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hotstar, Jio Cinema, Apple TV, etc. Now, you can watch anything you like at your convenience anywhere, anytime. Netflix is one such platform that has started offering a wide range of content for Indian audiences in recent times.

Although Netflix has been aggressively targeting the Indian market, it still lags behind platforms like MX Player, one of the reasons being the pricing as MX Player offers all the content for free. To lure Indian consumers, Netflix slashed the prices of its plans last year and also started a mobile-only plan for Rs. 149/month.

Netflix Subscription Plans 2024: Prices in India & Benefits

Currently, Netflix offers 4 plans in India. These plans start from Rs. 149 and go up to Rs. 649 per month. Each plan offers a different number of screens on which content can be viewed simultaneously.

Netflix Rs. 149 Mobile-Only Plan

As the name suggests, it can be used only on mobile or tablet. This allows content to be viewed on only one screen at a time. As this is a mobile-only plan, so your account can’t be used on Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, or any big-screen gadget with this plan, which means no streaming on laptops or iPads. Content can be streamed only in 480p quality and this plan is useful if you watch on your mobile only. The annual cost of this plan will be Rs. 1788.

The Mobile plan will need Android OS devices 5.0 or higher, Fire OS devices 5.0 or higher, or iOS devices 12.0 or higher. The plan allows for downloading series and movies for offline viewing as well.

Netflix Cheapest Plan In India – Basic Plan (Rs. 199 Plan)

If you want to watch your content on devices apart from your phone or tablet then this plan is for you. Under this Rs. 199 plan, you can stream content on a computer, TV, and other big-screen gadgets. The only drawback is that Netflix can be operated only on a single screen at any given point in time. Content is available in 720p resolution and the annual cost will amount to Rs. 2388.

Netflix Standard Plan in India – Standard Plan (Rs. 499 Plan)

The standard plan by Netflix costs Rs. 199 per month and the annual cost comes out to be Rs. 5988. Under this plan, you can watch content on two devices at a time, that too at 1080p resolution. Downloading shows and movies for offline viewing can be downloaded on two supported devices.

Netflix Premium Plan (Rs. 649 Plan)

This plan is the most premium plan available at the moment. It costs Rs. 649 per month and is a kind of family plan where the account can be accessed on four screens simultaneously. The content can be watched in Ultra HD (4K) resolution and also enjoy Netflix Spatial Audio support with the premium plan. You can download movies and shows for offline viewing on up to six devices at a time. The annual cost of this plan comes out to be Rs. 7788.

Airtel Black Plan Rs. 2299- The pack offers a Fiber connection along with a landline, postpaid connections, and DTH under one plan. With postpaid, you get 240GB of data, unlimited voice calls, 1 Regular SIM+3 Free Add-on SIMs. You also get Rs. 250 worth of TV channels and subscriptions to apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+Hotstar, and Airtel Xstream.

TATA Play DTH Bundle with Netflix

DTH operator Tat Play has also announced a bundle that includes a Netflix subscription. The range of plans starts from Rs. 849 per month and goes all the way up to Rs. 1249 per month and more. Viewers can watch Tata Play Smart Binge+ set-top box.

How to subscribe to Netflix?

To subscribe, go to Netflix’s website and choose the plan that best suits your needs and budget from the given list. After that, create a Netflix ID, fill out payment details and your plan will be activated.

iPhone users can now directly subscribe from the Netflix iOS app instead of being dedicated to the website.

How to get a free Netflix Premium subscription?

All the bundled plans discussed above give a free Netflix subscription. Subscribe to the plan which offers premium/standard/ mobile depending on your needs.

How to delete your Netflix account?

You can cancel your subscription anytime. The cancellation can happen via a web browser.

Just open Netflix on your internet browser, go to account settings, and click on cancel your subscription. If you cancel your subscription in the middle of your billing month, you will be allowed to view Netflix for the remainder of the month.

Downloading content from Netflix

You may want to view content on Netflix without the constant worry of buffering. You can download most of Netflix’s libraries offline and view them even when there is no internet connection. Hit the download button which is symbolized as a downward pointing arrow below all your content. There is a limit to the number of downloads and not all content is available for download. Apart from that, all downloaded content can be viewed on your app.

The smart downloads option automatically downloads the next 2-3 episodes when you are watching a TV series and deletes the ones you have watched.

How much Data is enough for streaming Netflix?

Netflix provides many ways through which one can maximize their viewing experience even with limited data. You can watch in Auto, Low, Medium, and High qualities. The low setting provides basic video quality with up to 0.3GB per hour, while Medium comes with 0.7GB per hour and High delivers up to 3GB per hour for HD and up to 7GB per hour for Ultra.

60 hours of watching in medium quality will consume around 42 to 50GB of data per month.

Current plan upgrade after price revision

Many users have shared that their Netflix plans have been automatically upgraded to a higher tier after the price revision was announced.

So if one earlier had a Standard plan, which was priced at Rs. 649 and is not available for Rs. 499, then you will be auto-upgraded to a Premium plan because it is now available at Rs. 649. Users can switch back to their original plans by going to their Netflix account and choosing the other plans.
