Samsung Galaxy S8 and its taller Sibling Galaxy S8+ recently made their India debut which refuelled the debate on which one is the best smartphone your money can buy. All of the three phones are absolutely amazing and you can’t go wrong with either of the three, but here we want to point out 5 features which give Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ an edge (pun intended) over Google Pixel and Apple iPhone 7.

Design and Infinity Display

Samsung’s new duo invokes an instant ‘wow’ feeling with their stunning design and infinity display. The phone has clearly depicted Samsung’s artistry when it comes to designing and engineering. Despite having a smaller footprint, the Galaxy S8 boasts of a 5.8-inch display and the S8 Plus houses a larger 6.2-inch AMOLED screen.

The QHD edge-to-edge display seamlessly merges with the side frame and makes the phone look fabulous. It looks tall thanks to its 18.5:9 aspect ratio (similar to LG G6). The Infinity display comes with HDR Premium certification. The edges not only look cool, they can be customized to quickly access apps and contacts.

Selfie Camera with AutoFocus

Samsung has added another feather in its cap by offering an 8-megapixel Selfie camera with autofocus. This means you won’t have to extend out your arm every now and then to tap and focus. This makes a huge difference and makes taking selfies a lot more convenient. And this does give it an edge over Apple iPhone and Google Pixel.

Samsung Dex

If you own a Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus you can easily avail a desktop experience with Samsung Dex. With the kind of innards that the Galaxy S8 and S8+ boasts, it can easily offer the basic computing experience.

This is not entirely Samsung’s brainchild as it seems to have taken inspiration from Microsoft’s Continuum. But still, it works as intended and you can open multiple apps in separate windows to conveniently multitask on a bigger display.

Samsung Pay

In the US and Europe, Apple and Android Pay exists but in India Samsung Pay (FAQ) is a massive advantage exclusive to Samsung phones. And that shall be the case at least for now. It takes minimum effort to set it up and it’s extremely convenient to use. What Samsung needs now is to get more and more banks on board.

Iris Scanner and Face recognition

We first saw an Iris scanner in ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and now Samsung has introduced in its ‘S’ series with the Galaxy S8. The Iris scanner is fast and secure as its algorithm create and store a digital signature of your retina. Or you could use face recognition which unlocks my phone before we need to enter security pin or pattern.

Fast Wireless Charging

Wireless charging isn’t exactly new in Samsung World as it has been part of Galaxy ‘S’ and ‘Note’ series for several years. With the S8 series, Samsung has really upped the ante as they have integrated fast charging within the wireless charger. Though, it is important to note, that the Fast Wireless Charger is sold separately (Those who pre-order the phone get it for free).
