Google Pixel 4A Details

Google Pixel 4a is a 5.8-inch mid-range smartphone that arrived following its predecessor Google Pixel 3a. Pixel 4a sports Qualcomm’s midrange Snapdragon730 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt memory. on the rear side of Pixel 4a, there’s a 12MP camera that sits on a rectangular bump with an LED flash. Google managed to impress buyers with its Pixel 3a last time. Let’s read the details of Google Pixel 4a and compare it with various phones before buying.

Display and Camera

Pixel 4a is fitted with a 5.8-inch screen. This FHD OLED panel has a pixel density of 443PPI with a resolution of 1080x2340pixels. The phone has a full view display with a punch-hole notch at the top left corner of the phone. This screen may suitable for people who prefer decent size screens, also it has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio display. Pixel 4a has a dust-resistant display that protects it from entering tiny dust particles. Also, the display is protected with a layer pf Gorilla Glass3.

Google Pixel 4a has a single 12MP Sony IMX363 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. Also, the camera has autofocus with user-friendly features like auto-HDR, face detection, Panorama, autoflash, touch-to-focus, and digital zoom. Pixel has a reputation for delivering high-quality pictures but expecting pro-like pics on this midrange Pixel 4a might hurt you. For selfies, an 8MP camera lies on the punch-hole. As far as the recording is concerned, UHD 4K videos can be recorded using the rear cameras of Pixel 4a.

Performance and Battery

Google Pixel 4a has a midrange snapdragon730 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of inbuilt storage. This midrange chipset may run demanding apps and games on default settings but midrange SD 730G chipset would have been a great option on this pixel 4a. The graphic demand of the phone is handled by Adreno 618 GPU. Useful sensors like Compass, Accelerometer, Gyroscope, Light Sensor, and Proximity are present. Pixel 4a has a rear fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

Pixel 4a is backed by a 3140mAh Li-Po battery. The battery size of this Pixel phone might disappoint heavy users but normal users may live with it. Google Pixel 4a supports wireless and 18W fast charging.

Storage and Connectivity

Pixel 4a has 128GB of internal storage which can be used to store apps, games, photos, music, etc. A reminder that Pixel 4a lacks extra-card support which limits its storage capacity.

The connectivity options of Pixel 4a include Wireless charging 3G, 4G VoLTE for HD voice and free video calls on supported Jio network, Bluetooth v5, and USB v3.1 Type C connectivity. For online navigation, it features constellations like GPS with A-GPS, Glonass, Galileo, QZSS, BeiDou.

Google Pixel 4a is a mid-range smartphone from Google. Also, it has a mid-range SD730 chipset. The phone has average battery capacity which is a back draw for this Pixel phone. Pixel 4a comes under Google, which is to say the phone has a brand-value.

Worth every penny

I've been using the 4a for over a week now. In short, it's really well balanced. Often we come across phones at this price that sacrifice too much of something (Cameras with the OnePlus Nord, Battery life with the iPhone SE etc.) to do other things well. Not the case here. Display - OLED, supports HDR. Looks really good and sharp, gets plenty bright. Some people were reporting some issues with it regarding ghost touches, it's all been fixed in the latest update. I've had zero issues since day 1. Battery - An all day phone for almost anyone, even heavy users. I myself am a light user, with haptic disabled and a single SIM with the phone set to airplane mode while I sleep, this phone lasts me two days with ease. I'm getting an SOT of 10+ hours mostly which will improve even further once adaptive battery kicks in. Speakers - Terrific. Sound really full, tons of detail, very clear vocals, can get pretty loud. Some people complained that it vibrates at full volume. It gets so loud that you'll never need to use it at full volume, I myself never feel like I have to go above 50% volume. That's plenty for me. Connectivity & Calling - The cellular reception is better or on par with pricier phones. Gets better coverage than the cheaper phones in my house and keeps up with the iPhone 11. Also, this is the best earpiece speaker I've heard. Calls are clear and crisp sounding. Performance - Haven't noticed any lags or heating issues yet. Everything is smooth and silky but then again, the 730G is a very capable chip. The 765G is actually just 2-3% faster than the 730G in terms of CPU performance so I expect this device to perform really well for quite many years. Anyone wanting to play a lot of games should probably look at the Nord or the SE. Software - Pixels get exclusive feature drops every 3 months. Just got a bunch of new features like adaptive charging etc. Pretty neat and clean software. Camera - It's a Pixel, what do you expect here ? It's a point and shoot phone. All images from the front and rear camera are incredible, best in class at this price. No tweaking needed, just point and shoot reliability. Some people were having issues with their front cam, my phone is perfectly fine. The Little Things - There's subtle touches all round that just improve the experience. The incredible haptics, the form factor, how light and comfortable it feels in the hand, the ultra fast and easy to access fingerprint reader, Google assistant, features like Now Playing that help you instantly recognise any music that's playing anywhere even though you aren't connected to the internet, live captions on anything, anywhere. It's these things where this phone truly shines and they're very hard to convey in a review. To conclude, if you want a reliable phone that nails the fundamentals and has no pointless gimmicks, the 4a is for you. You'll get a phone that is pretty good to excellent at all things it does, providing you a very balanced experience. Doesn't seem like much but that's pretty hard to get these days. A little gem.

Wonderful

I purchased this phone for its camera capabilities. And I am not disappointed. Pros: Camera - The primary camera does a great job in clicking all kind of pictures, with or without good lighting conditions. It will capture a short video and calibrate the best possible still outcome from that video. It shoots RAW and the images are crisp. The front camera is quite average. Audio - The audio output is better than any phone I have used before. Speaker positioning at both ends of the phone comes in handy especially if you have forgotten your headset and need to listen to something without waking up the house, while drifting into sleep. Display - Display is great for watching videos. Colour reproduction is exactly what you would expect from an OLED screen. The screen is visible under glaring sunlight. Recorder - I was pleasantly surprised by the recording output of this device. I decided to give the phone a try to record a song. Used the back camera at 4K 30fps setting, and to my amazement, the video was astounding. To top it off, the audio came out clear as day (for both my voice and the ukulele I was playing) Battery and Heating - The battery backup is great for a medium user like me. I do not play games on my mobile. I have not faced any heating issues. The device warms up during video calls, but I have never faced a call drop (I have been on video call for over 4 hours). Just remember to charge your phone according to your anticipated duration of video call and you should be fine. Cons: Camera - While capturing moving objects, the output is always a short video, from where you have to choose the best frame (and they don't come out as great). There also isn't a pro mode built in to the camera app. Battery - This isn't exactly a con, but I thought people should know that I have noticed considerable battery drainage while internet browsing (more than during any other activities that I have encountered) Ultimately, you will love how handy the device is. Also, check local shops for availability of screen guards/tempered glass protectors and back covers before ordering the phone. If they are unavailable, I would advice to order them before the phone, since they would take longer to reach you.
