Chinese co. does not deserve 2200/-

Actually, i visited raju japan maninagar ahmedabad to buy karbonn bahubali 4000mah after finding positive review online unfortunately co. stopped business
so tried different options under 1500/- for feature phone.
but salesman tricked me and sticked this phone for 2200/-
after losing my 2200/- for this costly failed chinese brand Gionee (Maroni) L800 heavy metal tin box for 2200/-
I found it doesn't have even feature like my old micromax x101i had
call recording
internet page saving by browser
no dedicated volume key
no preset or can be set shortcut keys
no option for deleting and moving or copying all files or more than 1 file by mark in file manager gallery everywhere you need to hard work 1 by 1
if you are calling you gotta increase and decrease call volume all the time as its speaker has loud volume so this non sense phone doesn't identify
ringing and calling volume are different
ultimatley if you set on low ringing volume it is same sound when you receive and talk over the call
ebook doesn't recognize flow of file

in short every single application of this phone holds not a con but cons
apart from 3000mah battery phone can't be called java smartphone
this is a tiny idiot, nonsense, stupid box

please if you are in the market for feature phone don't waste for gionee phones this is a fool chinese company doesn't deserve indian market go for micromax
especially for fearture phone only
i don't guarantee for android and midrange price phones of micromax

  • battery
  • stupid browser
  • no call recording
  • no dedicated volume key
  • heavy weight
  • limited 282kb phone memory
  • high price 2200/- 3 months back when i bought.
  • not supportive keypad as other feature phones
  • and so many cons...
  • know when you accidentally purchased and started using this stupid chinese phone manufacturer co. device

Misleading photographs on their website, the worst T9 on the planet, defective straight out of the box, careless customer service.

I bought the Gionee L800 inn coffee-champagne colour 2 weeks ago after reading some reviews and going through the specs, thinking it would be an excellent phone. Well, I received it a week ago and here’s the deal:

1. COLOUR- I bought coffee-champagne colour looking at the rich, attractive colours of this phone on the Gionee website. When I saw the phone physically, I was shocked. The phone was supposed to be an opulent and sophisticated coffee-champagne colour. The phone IS a washed-out, dull, boring, faded and VERY tired looking rose-gold colour. It looks pansy. Not to mention, just like any other mobile one could literally buy off the street. The customer service says this is due to the ’ special environments & Light’ but that’s just bullshit. The keypad, shown to have a nice contrast on the Gionee website photographs, has no contrast in the real phone at all. Are they trying to say that this contrast also magically vanished due to the ‘special environments & Light’? Besides, being a decent photographer myself, I know that these colour changes were not due to their lights, however special. Seems like they made a beautiful sample piece for the photographs, and washed-out, sad versions for mass-production.
2. BACKLIGHT- The phone’s keypad backlight- not working. Defective, straight out of the box. How do you like that.Feels like they’re busy spending all their money on advertising; so much so that a defective backlight here and there doesn’t matter.
3. T9 (dictionary mode while messaging)- Oh man.  I don’t know where to get started on this one. This phone has the worst T9 EVER. Basic, simple words, are not there in the T9 database! Words like ‘going’. ‘GOING’! To type going using T9, I had to type ‘go’ <space> ’in’ <space> ‘g’. Then I had to go back and delete those spaces to arrive at ‘going’. Good god man, I mean if this is the sort of BHAYAANAK JUGAAD one has to do to arrive at simple words, one is sure to go mad very soon. Unbelievable, and unacceptable for a person who always messaged using T9.
4. SCREEN- The screen, though beautiful, has a nasty habit of either stretching or flattening photographs from the memory card, when you try you view them. Even after rotating the pics. I was dismayed to see this. Pictures freshly taken on the Gionee itself, will display correctly, but pics stored on your memory card from before, will invariably be displayed stretched or flattened. This MAY be because I may not know something about how to view them correctly (although I am sure this is not the case), so I’m giving them the benefit of doubt here.

Rest, this phone is biggish and heavy too. That may be a good thing or a bad thing depending on how the end customer likes phones to be (‘the weight is a sign of reliability’ and all that). Ladies, this phone WILL BULGE in your pocket, and more so with slim fits.

5. GIONEE’S CUSTOMER SERVICE. Oh wait, they have a customer ‘service’? Apparently they do. I sent them a mail the day I received the phone, and it took them 8 days and a reminder mail to get them to reply. When they DID reply, they only said ‘We would like to inform that these snaps were shots in special environments & Light. These snaps may differ in actual.’ They completely ignored the backlight problem had raised in the mail. Pathetic, really. You may ask why I don’t simply take it to the service center and get it repaired. I would do that if I had used it for some months or years. This is a brand new piece and is defective right out of the box! I don’t want to use it and discover more and more defects. No, this phone needs to be replaced.
All in all, thoroughly disappointing so far, even keeping in mind the other features (which I have not used as I want to return the phone), as the basics (customer service, T9, defect-free-when-new, skewed screen, HONESTY) are not in place.

  • So far, nothing
  • Terrible T9
  • Terrible customer service
  • Defective taken right out of its sealed box
  • Screen
  • VERY different colour, which they're trying to attribute to 'special environments & Light', which is not true.
